Regardless of platform, Skype always keeps you in the loop with push notifications. This means that Microsoft’s recent introduction of email notifications for missed calls and messages has practically gone too far. In short, they are mostly useless.
That doesn’t mean there aren’t some who will like the feature. This is perfect if you don’t like push notifications or prefer to log out of Skype after using it. But for those of us who don’t want extra clutter in our inboxes, it’s often convenient to turn off Skype’s email notifications.
But instead of configuring your email client to mark Skype notifications as spam, let’s see how you can turn them off right at source.
Disabling Skype’s Email Alerts
One of the few great things about Skype is the ability to manage your notifications. The same goes for email notifications.
While you can configure Skype to stop sending you email notifications from almost any platform you have installed, you don’t have to manually change notification settings everywhere.
Provided you use the same Microsoft ID on all Skype instances, your preferences should sync directly to the cloud. In short, you only need to do this once.
Let’s start with Skype on desktop and then check out how you can do the same on mobile.
desktop
You can use the steps below to turn off email notifications immediately on Windows and macOS. Especially when it comes to Windows, the procedure is the same in both the Windows Store and the desktop (download) version of Skype.
Note:
Stage 1: Access the Skype Settings panel. To do this, click on the three-dot icon next to your profile picture in the upper-left corner of the Skype window, and then select Settings from the drop-down menu.

Fly:
Step 2: Click on the option labeled Notifications in the left navigation pane. Then scroll down the notifications list all the way to the bottom. Then it’s just a matter of turning off the switches next to Missed Call Reminders and Missed Message Reminders.

Of course, if you don’t want to miss any important Skype calls, you can choose to leave the button next to Missed Call Reminders as is. Thanks to Microsoft for providing separate notification options for both calls and messages.
mobile
If you haven’t done it yet on a desktop, the steps below will help you disable Skype email notifications on Android and iOS.
Stage 1: Open the Skype app and then tap your profile portrait. On the next screen, tap Settings.

Step 2: Tap Notifications and then use the switches under Email Notifications to disable email notifications for missed calls or missed messages or both.

Go back and Skype will automatically save your preferences.
Bonus Tip — Skype Web App
Skype has a dedicated web application that can be accessed from any desktop-based web browser (or by requesting the desktop version of the site from a mobile browser). It works similarly to Skype’s desktop app and offers excellent tools for disabling email notifications from any device, regardless of whether or not Skype is installed.
Stage 1: Sign in to the Skype web app using your Microsoft ID.
Step 2: Click the three-dot icon next to your profile portrait, then click Settings.

Stage 3: Click on Notifications and then scroll down to turn off the switches under Email Notifications.

Pretty clean, right?
Skype for Desktop Issues
If you are using the desktop version of Skype for Windows (not the Windows Store version), you may encounter an issue where the application does not save your preferences. This happens when your profile gets corrupted, and if you’re going to turn off email notifications, you’ll have to force Skype to rebuild your profile from scratch.
Warning:
Stage 1: Force quit Skype via the system tray.

Step 2: print Windows+R To open the Run box Next, type %app data% Click the Open field, and then click OK.

Stage 3: In the File Explorer window that appears, open the folder labeled Microsoft.

Step 4: Rename the existing Skype for Desktop folder to: Skype for desktop.

Note:
Step 5: Restart Skype and then sign in again using your Microsoft ID. You can now seamlessly change Skype notification settings and other preferences.

Note:
Less Clutter in Your Inbox
Once again, email notifications are helpful but mostly unnecessary thanks to push notifications. Turning them off means less clutter and less distractions in your inbox. So, what do you think about Skype introducing email notifications? The comments section is just below.
Next: Unlike Skype text chats, you cannot eavesdrop on your calls in case you miss something important. Unless you bother to save them, that is. Click the link below to learn how to do this easily.
