Design
Side by side, the OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 have a noticeable size difference. With its 6.28-inch screen, the OnePlus 6 looks like a beast next to its rival and its 5.84-inch screen. However, the two brands have optimized the integration of this display well, with very thin borders and a small notch of the same size (requires 2018 trend).
Both brands opted for a specially treated glass. If Honor opts for the flashy one with flashy reflections (that’s a compliment), OnePlus plays its more serious game with matte glass for the matte black and Silk White versions. Screen
Two brands, two schools. OnePlus, like most high-end smartphone manufacturers, opted for an OLED panel. Honor continues to bet on LCD technology. The OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 displays both show the Full HD+ definition.
If the integration of the screen into the product is as smooth as in two smartphones, Image quality is better on OnePlus 6. Blacks are deeper and contrasts are more pronounced on the OnePlus 6 thanks to OLED technology. Colorimetry is also better. This does not mean that the display of the Honor 10 is bad, quite the contrary. For example, it is brighter than its competitor, but overall visual comfort is less good. This impression is reinforced by the more compact format of the display.
Performance and interface
No need to shout for hours, In terms of performance, the OnePlus 6 is unrivaled. With a Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB of RAM (or 6GB for the most affordable model), the latest from OnePlus is a little bombshell. It surpasses even smartphones from the most prestigious manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei or Apple.
Suffice it to say that with its Kirin 970 processor and 4 GB of RAM, the Honor 10 does not compare to its rival. The truth is, it will continue to be a reliable companion on a daily basis in all uses. But under the toughest uses, the Honor 10 isn’t as crazy fast as the OnePlus 6. the presence of an NPU chip and artificial intelligence It allows Honor 10 to adapt to every user.
This superiority of OnePlus 6 is reinforced by its interface. OxygenOS 5.1.2 (Android Oreo) is undoubtedly the lightest and smoothest skin available. OnePlus manages to perfectly combine fluidity and ergonomics by adding a few very practical little features to an almost pure Android version.
Honor 10 includes EMUI 8.1 skin which is much heavier than Oxygen OS. Honor, this is a different school. EMUI looks more like iOS than Android and hundreds of practical features. But the whole is less fluid and above all less airy. EMUI is starting to age a bit and deserves a bit of a refresh to stand up to comparison. But as for the design, the interface here will be primarily a matter of taste. We can only recommend that you test both products to find out which universe you are most comfortable in.
Camera
OnePlus 6 outperforms Honor 10 on the performance side, the latter getting its revenge on the photography side. Honor shared a lot about artificial intelligence that can effortlessly take better shots. Finally, it was the photos taken without this AI that tempted us the most in our Honor 10 test.
With 24MP (monochrome) + 16MP (RGB) dual sensors, Honor 10 works wonders. Colors are lifelike and clarity is excellent for a smartphone at this price. It should also be noted that it performs very well in low light conditions. Artificial intelligence is a tool that doesn’t get us particularly excited because its results are so random.
Opposite, OnePlus 6 is incomparable With 16MP + 20MP dual sensors. The main criticism that can be made to the OP6 is its tendency to pull yellow both during the day and at night. Sharpness is less good than on the Honor 10 and shots are less detailed. That said, the OnePlus 6’s highlight is its portrait mode: the blur effects are stunning.
Autonomy
OnePlus 6 is the champion in all autonomy categories. Therefore, it is logically better than the Honor 10 in this area. With its 3300mAh battery and fine-tuned optimization, the OnePlus 6 is the absolute benchmark for battery life for all brands. It also benefits from the world’s fastest charging system.
Suffice it to say that the Honor 10 hasn’t been able to struggle despite its good performance on this side. Count 2 days of usage for OnePlus 6 for full use, versus a day and a half max for the Honor 10.
Our decision
In all benchmarks, the OnePlus 6 vastly outperforms its rival : better display, better battery life, better performance and smoother interface. But the Honor 10 holds up well in terms of photography and price. Because Honor’s smartphone is offered at a price of around 350 euros, versus 450 euros for the OnePlus 6.
