The Elden Ring Morgott boss’ battle against the Omen King may sound familiar – because it’s Margit again! The character you’re fighting at the entrance to Stormveil has been Morgott the entire time, and frustratingly actually holding back as he fights you near the start of the Elden Ring. Capable of both powerful weapon and magic attacks, Morgott is a ruthless foe who fights on the offensive to make up for his relatively low defenses. How to defeat Morgott the Omen King in Elden Ring

The Elden Ring Morgott boss fight is the toughest foe you’ve ever faced in the main story, but considering you probably defeated the Dragon Tree Sentry to get here and fight in Leyndell, it shouldn’t prove impossible. . As mentioned, Morgott’s powerful hits and aggressive patterns are there to distract him (at least compared to similar bosses) from the fact that he doesn’t have a large health bar, so even the occasional hit can reduce him significantly.

The problem is, he has no intention of letting you do that. Morgott uses a combination of sweeping sword sweeps and powerful AOE attacks to distract the player, constantly putting you on the defensive so you don’t have a chance to hit him. Don’t worry, we’ve put together some tips to help you claim the king’s crown both before and during the match. We’ll start with some advice you should get before we get in.

• To fight Morgott on an equal footing, you must be at least rank 80 with +15 or higher weapons, and possibly much higher. Obviously the higher the better, but if you haven’t reached those thresholds yet, you’re going to have a really hard time.
• Just outside Morgott’s arena is an NPC summoning – Melina, your maiden! He returned after the hiatus and became a good ally against the Omen King. While it doesn’t do much damage, it serves as a useful distraction and can even do heals and buffs that benefit you in the middle of battle.
• Many of Morgott’s deadliest attacks are based on Holy damage and cannot be easily blocked. Once you’re in the arena, get ready to roll and choose the armor that will help you withstand his divine attacks.
• Morgott also doesn’t have any specific immunity or resistance to worry about, but as far as we can tell, he does have a slight weakness for cutting damage. It shouldn’t be enough to completely redesign your build, but if you’re stuck between two equally good weapons, choose the hacker.
• The item Margit’s Shackle, which can be purchased from Patches, also works in Morgott! In a pinch, it could save your life, briefly rein on the boss the first two times you trigger it (though it won’t work after that).
• Spirit Summoning isn’t a bad idea, but Morgott kills them pretty quickly. Either gather the toughest ones you have or gather small groups like the Lone Wolves that must go after them individually.

Morgott boss fight cheats and tricks

Now that you’re ready, it’s time to fight. Go through the fog gate and get ready for the fight to begin. Morgott doesn’t have any obvious weaknesses or exploitable gimmicks to make him easy, but there are some good points to keep in mind during this encounter.

• Any attack involving golden light deals Divine damage and cannot be easily blocked by shields. That’s not so much of an issue when wielding your sword, but when you see the light weapons spawn, get ready to roll.
• If you brought Margit’s Handcuffs with you, use it selectively, not just as a chance for a few free hits (unless you think Morgott’s health is too low and you don’t think you can end him). Remember, you can only trigger it twice per encounter, so it’s best used to buy a chance to heal yourself or cast powerful spells.
• All of Morgott’s most powerful attacks tend to come with little preparation, either when summoning a new weapon or reloading a spell. The general rule of thumb is if he fires a bullet at you, roll towards it. If he’s coming at you with melee attacks, roll backwards from him (or under his arm if he’s really close). It’s not entirely foolproof, but works largely as a general rule until you get the attack patterns memorized.
• One of Morgott’s more difficult spells involves summoning fallen blades from above. There’s a gust of wind that this includes reaching into the air – you can use this moment to do some damage, but try to see where they’ll fall to avoid getting caught in them.
• At half health, Morgott falls to the ground and screams before exploding with energy. The moment you see this happening, back off!
• We should point out that Morgott can be evaded with the right shield, but this is an incredibly high risk strategy as obviously failing will cause you to take the full attack.

Morgott boss fight rewards

Killing Morgott will get you some nice rewards and unlock the next phase of the game. You will receive Rune 120000, the Great Rune of Morgott (which you must activate in the Divine Tower east of Leyndell) and the Relic of the Omen King.

This Memorial, like all of them, can be used with Enia for one of two rewards (or both if you copy them in the Walking Mausoleum). You can craft Morgott’s Cursed Sword or Regal Omen Bairn, a powerful curved greatsword that scales with Dexterity and deals bleeding damage. Bairn is a special reusable item that consumes HP but creates spirits that follow and damage targets (damage is on both Intelligence and Faith scales). They’re obviously for very different builds, but Bairn isn’t really that powerful if you haven’t rated the relevant stats.
