The videographers behind the YouTube channel PhoneBuff conducted a speed test to test the performance of Apple’s latest high-end flagship iPhone 12 Pro and Apple’s latest premium phablet, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
In this test, with the iPhone 12 Pro SoC A14 Bionic etched at 5nm and coupled with 6GB of RAM gets the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Snapdragon 865 chipset It is powered by 12GB of RAM and is carved in 7nm. It is therefore a unit sold in the American market. In the Note 20 sold in Europe, Samsung integrates an in-house SoC, the Exynos 990 (7nm).
The Victory of the iPhone 12 Pro
A speed test measures the time it takes two smartphones to open various apps, including Facebook, Microsoft Word, Adobe Rush or mobile games. This test therefore highlights the speed with which a terminal can launch an application or launch any task.
From the first applications opened, iPhone 12 Pro manages to gain an advantage against its rival. Apple’s smartphone completes the first lap in 1 minute 41 seconds. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra takes one minute and 55 seconds to perform the same tasks.
In the second round, PhoneBuff measures each smartphone’s ability to keep background apps open. Some devices are much faster when apps are already open. This is often the case with iPhones, thanks to iOS’ software optimization.
In this area, the Note 20 Ultra catches up by editing photos faster than the iPhone. Unfortunately for Samsung, the iPhone 12 Pro is quickly regaining the lead by exporting videos to Adobe Rush “faster than any smartphone” Thanks to the A14 chipset. Afterwards, iPhone continues to widen the gap while maintaining execution speed. For its part, the Note 20 Ultra performs increasingly poorly. Finally, the iPhone 12 Pro finished the second round 4 seconds ahead of the Samsung flagship.
