It’s not unusual to delete an app as there is an ever-increasing number of new and interesting options to try.
You may feel like you’ve left Snapchat behind or want to delete it for some other reason. If you believe there is no other solution, you can do this in a few simple steps.
But before you say goodbye to your friends and all your posts and conversations, think carefully. If you want to take a break from this app, you don’t need to permanently delete your account.
But if you still want to continue, read this article to learn how.
How to Permanently Delete Your Account
You might think that with a few taps, you can delete your account directly from the Snapchat App.
Well, that’s not the case. You can find the option to Delete My Account in the Help section, which is true, but you’ll still have to open the link they gave you in a browser and continue from there.
Deleting Your Snapchat: Method 1
To delete Snapchat, you need to access your profile through your browser, and you can do this from your smartphone or computer. Here is a quick guide.
- Open snapchat.com in a browser.
- Scroll all the way down and click (or tap) Support in the Community section.
- Select My Account and Security.
- Click Account Security.
- Select Delete My Account and then follow the instructions on the page.
Note that after deleting your account, it will not be permanently deleted immediately. You have 30 days to change your mind. If you stick to your decision, your profile will definitely be removed after this period and you will not be able to recover it again.
If you change your mind and want to reactivate your account before this time expires, it is very simple to do. Login to your profile again with just your username and password.
Note: You cannot use your email address to log in or change your password until your profile is reactivated.
Your account may not be activated immediately, but it will certainly be activated within a day.
Deleting Your Snapchat: Method 2
There is another way to delete your account on your computer. Here is a brief summary of the steps:
- Open this link in your browser: https://accounts.snapchat.com.
- Login to your account.
- Confirm that you are not a robot.
- Scroll to find the Delete My Account tab and click to open it.
- Re-enter your password and click Continue.
You have successfully deactivated your account! You will also receive a confirmation email that your profile has been deactivated, so you can take action in case it’s not yours.
Are you sure you want to go?
Sometimes people think that the only way to fix a problem with an app is to stop using it altogether. However, that may not be the case here. If you’re having problems with Snapchat, you can try to solve the problem another way before choosing to delete your account.
Is Someone Annoying You?
If someone is sending you unwanted and/or inappropriate content, you can easily block or report the user instead of deleting your profile completely. Snapchat support isn’t just for tips and tricks – it can also help you feel more secure while using this app. You can contact the support team about many of your concerns, and you can also report a security or abuse issue.
Spending Too Much Time Using Snapchat?
If you think this app is too time consuming and you can’t rely on self-discipline, there are apps that can limit your screen time and prevent you from using the app when you exceed the limit. Some of the best are Freedom, App Detox or Space. And there are options for both Android and iOS.
say bye bye
If you’re sure you’re ready to say goodbye to Snapchat because you’re no longer interested, the previous solutions won’t work. All that needs to be done is to click that Delete button and switch to another popular app.
