Originally, Instagram started as a photo sharing service. Gradually, it added video support, Instagram Stories, Direct Messages, and more to cover a wide audience. Now, the Facebook-owned company is ready to catch up with the hot trend in the market made popular by TikTok. Instagram has rolled out the widely anticipated Reels feature in over 50 countries, including the US.
Instagram is finally getting into the 15-second video trend. What gives it an edge over its other competitors is the seamless integration with Instagram. From the very beginning, Instagram not only gave Reels a huge exposure and audience, but also allowed them to create great content with all the dizzying filters and effects the app already has to offer.
If you’re having trouble accessing TikTok or want to try something new with a familiar avatar, it’s time to give Instagram Reels a worthy look on Android or iPhone.
In this article, we’re going to talk about the top 15 Instagram tips and tricks to get you started.
Where are the Instagram reels
It’s a good thing Instagram doesn’t throw the Reels option to the home screen. Depends on the story menu. Open Instagram and tap the camera icon in the upper left corner or use the right swipe to open the Story screen.

Next to the story you will find the Reels. Tap on it and start making Reels using the cheats below. Another place where you can detect reels is the Explore section.
1. Add Elegant Music to Instagram Reels
Music is an essential part of making a remarkable Reel. Instagram offers tons of ready-made music clips to choose from. Just tap the Music icon and browse hundreds of neatly categorized music clips in the Browse menu.

The best part is that you can choose exactly which part of the music goes to the Reels. When you select the music to add to the reels, Instagram will offer to choose a protege of the music that plays live lyrics on the screen.
2. Adjust Recording Speed
Many users will love it. The reels let you mess with the recording speed. On the Reels screen, tap the play button and slow down the video by 5x or speed up the Reel by 3x.

3. Play with Effects
Effects are the heart of the Instagram experience. You can add Stupid face, Party Lights, Green Screen according to your mood and choose from dozens of other effects for a perfect Instagram Reel. Tap the effects icon in the reels menu and scroll through a range of effects.

4. Set Video Time
Instagram Reels allow us to create videos of up to 15 seconds. But it is not necessary to stretch the video to 15 seconds each time. You can also create a 5 second or 10 second video. Tap the timer icon and set the timer from 2 seconds to 15 seconds.

5. Add Timer Before Starting Video
Making a group Reels? You can always set a three-second timer to shoot the video. Capturing the right moments at the right time is always helpful.

6. Align Captured Video
This is a thoughtful addition by Instagram. If the captured video is shaky or blurry, you can use the Align option to correct the situation. After capturing the video, you will see the fifth option in the Reels bar. Tap on it and make adjustments accordingly.

7. Replay Instagram Reels
After shooting the video, it is always recommended to take one last look to see how it turns out. You can tap the back arrow and preview the video before sharing it with the world.

8. Save Your Instagram Reels
If you want to save your Instagram reel to your device, tap the forward arrow at the bottom. Then tap the Save button in the upper right corner to save your clip.

9. Color Your Instagram Reels With Stickers and Text
Instagram allows you to add various stickers, emojis and texts before sharing the Reels with the world. Adding a time, date, location or the right emoji can increase the appeal of your first Reels on Instagram.

10. Replace Cover Before Sharing Reels
Before sharing the Reels, you can tap the Cover option in the Share menu and choose the perfect cover photos to represent the Reels.

11. Multiple Sharing Options
Instagram provides several options for sharing Reels. You can share it as a Story (In which case the Reels will be deleted after 24 hours), share it in the feed or keep it in your account and access it from the Explore menu. Users can also save Reels as drafts.

12. Zoom In/Out While Recording Reels
While recording a Live Reel, you can swipe up on the playback indicator to zoom in and swipe down to Zoom out the video. It can be useful when creating a Reel from a live concert or sporting event. Oh, back then!
13. Use Audio From Other Reels
Just like TikTok, if you find a song or audio clip you like, you can tap the music and select ‘Use Audio’. Now the Reels menu is set to use the song you selected and you cannot change the sound.

14. Preserve Your Instagram Reels and Original Audio
When you share your Instagram Reels, you should remember that anyone can view and share them. Your reels can appear in Discover and in places like effects, hashtags, and even sound pages.

Anyone can extract the Sound from your Reels and use it on their Reels. However, you can set your account to Private to stop the app. Go to Profile > tap the three lines in the top right corner > Settings > Privacy > Account Privacy > enable private account.
15. Delete Reels
You can always delete these unwanted Reels by going to the Profile tab. Tap the Reels menu, play the Reels you want to delete and select the three dots menu at the bottom. Select Delete from the menu below.

Use Instagram Reels Like a Pro
Many companies are trying to copy TikTok’s formula for success. And I must say, Instagram’s execution is spot on. However, it’s hard to say whether Reels will be able to tether TikTok-loving users.
