How to Install WordPress Manually – Famous 5 Minute Installer

If you’ve decided to use WordPress for your next blog or website, one of the reasons for that choice is likely ease of use. WordPress is a platform that comes with a modest learning curve and one of the best things about it is: you can do everything yourselfwithout outside help, even if you’re not a computer genius.

Anyone can learn how to install WordPress on their own. In fact, the process is so simple in theory that it has come to be known as the famous five-minute setup. For most users, especially novices, though, it usually takes a little longer than that.

Installing WordPress manually and getting your site up and running can actually be an enjoyable and quick experience – provided you have appropriate guidance. And that is exactly what we plan to present step by step today.

Some WordPress hosting providers offer their customers a handy WordPress installer that basically does all the work. However, this is not always an ideal solution. Sometimes these auto-installers come in the form of packages that also install certain add-ons or make certain changes that you may not necessarily want. So either make sure it won’t happen or choose manual installation. This way, you will full control over your website.

Before Installation

Before you begin the installation process, there are a few things to consider.

First of all, you will need hosting and domain name. Choose your hosting provider wisely and make sure it’s one that powers many WordPress websites because you may need some WordPress-related support or even troubleshooting.

As for the domain name, you’ll want to think about it, as it’s the name that will be associated with your business or blog and that your future visitors will recognize you as. Basically – your brand. If you need help, check out our article on choosing a great business name.

Once you’ve got all that out of the way, it’s time to get down to the core and set up the platform.

How to Install WordPress Manually

Before the actual installation you will need to do two things: create a database and download your copy of WordPress.

How to Create a Database

Control panels are a great asset for managing your web server and often offer an option to access and manage your database. One of the most popular is cPanel, which is the default control panel of most hosting providers.

To create a database with cPanel, log in with your cPanel credentials, which may consist of your email address or username and password, then Click The “MySQL Databases” option in the “Databases” section.

At the top of your screen, sting new SQL database name and print Click the “Create Database” button.

Then further down the page in the MySQL Users section, fill in information needed to add a new user to your subdirectory. It is important that you remember or save the username and password you just entered as it will be relevant in the next steps.

Then make sure Add select both the newly created MySQL database and the user in the “Add User to Database” subsection.

After that, assign required user privileges to the newly created user, and print “Making changes”. These privileges restrict or allow the user to perform certain tasks in that database.

Granted privileges can also be changed later to extend or restrict certain privileges.

In case your hosting package does not provide your cPanel hosting account, you can create a database directly from phpMyAdmin. To do this, to connect to phpMyAdmin using the credentials provided by your hosting provider and Click On the Databases tab. Under “Create database” sting the name of your database, select “Blending” type and Click Click the “Create” button.

Now you need to create a new user. navigate the “User accounts” tab and Click On “Add new account”.

On the screen below, Add your username, sting localhost as the hostname and medicine Enter your password 2 times as indicated in the screenshot below.

Scroll down and at the bottom right of your screen Click the “Go” button.

Since what is shown is public, we have deliberately neglected to assign any privileges as it gives the newly created user the ability to perform any task in any database that may be a security hazard. The last step to manage this danger is to assign user privileges only to edit the already created base.

By doing so, Click Once again on the “User accounts” tab, locate line with the new username, and print “Edit privileges”.

How to Download WordPress

To get your copy of WordPress, go to: WordPress.org. Please note that there is a difference between WordPress.org and WordPress.com, so make sure you are at: on the right.

This will take you to the download page. Simply click Download WordPress. The number on the button indicates the latest version of the platform you will download and use.

Once the file is downloaded, you will need to open your zipper.

How to Upload WordPress Files and Connect Your Database

All these files should now be uploaded to your server. There are several different ways to do this, most importantly using the hosting provider’s control panel (cPanel) or using FTP. We will use the FTP method using the previously mentioned FileZilla client software.

First thing to do after opening your FTP client, connect to your server. For this, you will need to enter some information that should be provided by your hosting company, such as your host, username and password.

Once connected, the left side of the screen will show the location where you extracted the WordPress files folder and the right side of the screen will be reserved for your website root folder.

Batch select all files in the folder and To upload from the right-click menu.

After the installation is complete, go to your website by entering its URL in the browser.

And finally, here we are – the WordPress installation screen. The first thing you will be asked to do here is to select the language. Choose one and click Go on.

The next step is to connect your database, which you will do just by clicking the button that says. Let’s go!

The next screen asks you to enter your database name, username, and password as well as the server.

Enter the required information and click To send.

Note: These must be the same as the database information you created earlier. If you are unsure about any of these, contact your hosting provider to get the necessary information.

We’re almost there! Now that WordPress is communicating with your database, it’s time to Run the setup.

The Real Five Minute WordPress Installation Process

The first screen of the installation process is the Welcome screen. Here you will be asked give your website a title and provide a username and password for him. You can also enter your e-mail and Search Engine Visibility (in some cases, you don’t want search engines to crawl and index your site before it’s better and ready).

Success! As the next screen informs you, WordPress is now installed on your website.
