When you write something in Word, you may not always want to share it as a post on your WordPress website. Sure, you can upload the file to your pages, but if you don’t want to allow users to download it, embedding it is the best solution. But currently you can’t do this by relying solely on WordPress’ default features.

Plugins come to the rescue to streamline the process of embedding documents on your pages and posts. We talked about what you can use to embed PDF files and Google Sheets in WordPress, but now it’s time to find out which plugin to use to embed a Word document in WordPress.
We did some testing and the plugin we want to recommend Embed Any Document.
This is a powerful plugin that currently counts over 70,000 active installs. The authors update this regularly and it is tested up to the latest version of WordPress. this premium version it can also be purchased for $25 and gives you a little more choice. For example, with Embed Any Document Plus you can embed Google Docs alongside files you host in Dropbox and Box. But the free version can do exactly what we need, and it embeds a Word document in WordPress.
Install Plugin
Go to your WordPress dashboard and select Plugins > Add New. Find the plugin in the library, then install and activate it.
Upload Your Word Document
Now it’s time to open the page or post where you want to embed the Word document.
To do this in the Classic editor, go to: Pages > Add New. Since you have the Embed Any Document plugin enabled, you will notice that: Add Document option (next to the default Add Media button).
Click on it to upload your file or paste the document URL.
After you upload the document, you will be able to customize the placement.
The plugin allows you to adjust the width and height of the embed, choose whether the download link will appear, and if so, who can download the file. You can also enter the text to be displayed in the download link and select the embed viewer. The shortcode of your embed is also listed.
When you have finished making all the necessary adjustments, click on it. StingTo see the Word document embedded in your WordPress page.
If you are using Gutenberg then, document block your page.
Next, upload your Word file.
After selecting the desired document, you will be able to change the placement as you would in the classic editor. You can make changes to these settings at any time, as they are always displayed on the right side of the screen.
Before saving any changes, you can always preview your page to make sure it looks the way you imagined it.
Google Drive is our friend in many ways. Not only can it be used to store and share important files, but this online storage is a real life saver when it comes to embedding various file types in WordPress. And Word documents are no different.
To embed a Word document in WordPress without using the plugin, you must first upload the file to Google Drive. We’ve discussed this in our guide on how to embed PDF files in your posts and pages, but we’ll walk you through the process one more time so all the information you need is listed in one place.
Go to your Google Drive account and in the upper left corner New > File Upload.
Find your Word file and add it to the drive.
Now that the file is uploaded, double-click it to preview it. Next, press more moves button (three vertical dots) and select it from the drop-down menu. ShareThis is the first option.
We want to make sure your users can view the Word file, so Anyone with the link Can view choice.
We also recommend making adjustments to some advanced options. Depending on the content of your Word document, you may not always want to allow others to download, print, or copy the file. To prevent everyone from doing this, click on it. Developed and tick the second box.
Now that this is taken care of, let’s get one step closer to embedding your Word document in WordPress.
Once you save your changes, more moves button (three dots) and Open in new window choice.
The file will open in a new window and the three dots will reappear. Click on them and select Embed item.
After that you will get the iframe code you need to embed the file in your pages.
Copy the code, go to your WordPress dashboard and Pages > Add New.
If you are using the Classic Editor, the code text editor and save your changes.
In Gutenberg, you must first add: Custom HTML block it and then paste the iframe code into it.
You can also make some minor changes to the code. For example, if you want change the width and height of the embedded file, you can do this by changing the last two parameters of the code. In our case the width is currently 640px and the height is 480px. However, if necessary, we can change the numbers so that the Word file better fits the general view of the page in which it is embedded.
