How to Easily Reorder Your WordPress Blog Posts

By default, WordPress displays your posts in: reverse chronological order, by date of publication. This means that the most recent posts are displayed at the top, and for older ones you usually have to dig a little deeper. This is fine for many websites like news feeds, blogs, magazines and so on. However, there are many situations where you may need to change this order and create your own or place certain posts in certain positions in the list. This can actually be done quite easily using one of the methods we will discuss here.

Why Reorder Your WordPress Posts?

View latest posts first is not always the most appropriate way to present your content on your website. For example, there may be a series of posts that form a consistent unit between them but are published at different times. This applies to long-form pieces that are divided into several parts. Logically, I would expect Episode 1 to be first, followed by Episode 2, followed by Episode 3, and so on. you want. How to Change the Order of Your Posts in WordPress

There are several ways to reorder your WordPress blog posts. One of them involves some coding and we won’t go into that now. The other two are extremely simple and full WordPress is suitable even for beginners.

Changing the Release Date

Many users prefer change the posting date of their shipment to manage their orders. WordPress displays the most recent posts first, so if you want to push a particular post up or down all you have to do is give latest date. Similarly, to push down a newer post among older posts, just give it an older date. You can do this with all your shipments, so you can create a custom order that you completely control yourself.

Log into the backend of your website and select the post whose date you want to change.

On the right side of the screen, you will find the publication date of the post along with its status and visibility. click To organise next to history.

Select the date and time from the calendar and click. OK. don’t forget to hit update To save your changes

There is no Edit button here, but clicking on the publish date will open a calendar and allow you to choose the one you want.

Note that here you also have the option to paste the post at the top of the blog.

As for this method, choose dates that fit the general chronology of your blog or website. For example, if most of your posts were written in 2019, don’t change the date to 2010 as readers will find it irrelevant. To maintain consistency and relevance, try to use dates that are as close to the publication dates of other posts as possible.

Reorder Posts Using a Plugin

The classic WordPress adage “There’s a plugin for that!” it also applies here. Actually, there are multiple plugins for changing the order of your blog posts, but we decided to use them. Order of Fontsis the most popular.

This plugin uses Drag and Drop Sortable JS to reorder WordPress posts, both default and custom post types.

After downloading, installing and activating the plugin, navigate to: Settings>Mail Type Order in your clipboard menu.

you will need configure plugin first by selecting the post types you want to make the plugin interface available. For example, you can allow this option for posts, media, and blocks, but not for testimonials and slides.

When you’re done, click save settings.

now go to you Posts>All Posts. You will notice that you can now rearrange and reorder posts. just drag and drop them to the desired location. Their position in the backend list determines the position where the posts are displayed on the frontend.

Besides being extremely easy to use, the great thing about this plugin is that: it doesn’t change the timestamp of your posts – it just changes their order.
