What if you want to make a Presentation from a Microsoft Word document? The obvious way is to copy and paste the text to transfer the content from the Word document to a PowerPoint slide. However, this process can be tedious, especially if the Word document is text-heavy.
An alternative to copying and pasting content between PowerPoint and Word files would be to convert the Word document to a PowerPoint. There are three ways to convert Word documents to PowerPoint. They include:
Using the Export to PowerPoint Option in Office for the web
Microsoft 365 subscribers can easily convert Word documents into PowerPoint Presentations using the Word Web App. The presentation is created based on all the outlined parts of the Word file, and images, fonts and icons can be added using AI.
Here are the steps to follow to use this option.
Stage 1: Start a browser (preferably a Chromium-based browser).

Step 2: Go to Word.Office.com and sign in using your Microsoft 365 account details.

Stage 3: Start the Word document you plan to convert.

Step 4: Click File in the opened Word document.

Step 5: Click Export.

Step 6: Select the option to export to PowerPoint presentation.

Step 7: Select your preferred PowerPoint theme and click Export.

Step 8: Click Open Presentation to view your converted document.

While this method is quick and simple, it has the following limitations:
- It only supports English language.
- Not available in Internet Explorer or Safari browsers.
- Media content can only be added after conversion.
Export Word Document to PowerPoint
You can export Word documents directly to PowerPoint. However, before importing, users may need to format the document to make it look attractive in PowerPoint. Here are the steps to export Word to PowerPoint.
Stage 1: Start the Word document.
Step 2: For each part of the Word document you want to be a separate slide, on the Home tab in the Styles group, select Heading 1, 2, etc. Add a title by selecting .

Stage 3: Press Enter on your keyboard to leave a blank line between the end of the section and the title of the new section to allow separate slides to be created for each new section.
Step 4: After you create an outline, you can change the Font size, color, and type.

Step 5: Click Save to save the new changes in the document.
Step 6: Start PowerPoint.

Step 7: Click File and then select Open.

Step 8: Select Browse.

Step 9: In File Explorer, change the file type from All PowerPoint Presentations to All Outlines.

Step 10: Select the formatted document from the saved location and click Open; PowerPoint will create a new presentation based on your Titles.
Now that you have sections for your Presentation, you can add more content and add your preferred design.
Using Online File Converter

If data privacy is a concern, using online converters may not be the best option as there is no assurance whether your data is stored and shared with other parties.
