WhatsApp’s third ‘dash’ is about to be launched; what is it for, after all?

WhatsApp’s new features, such as hidden preview, have won over users. It is increasingly possible to customize privacy preferences in the app, for example: confirmation that the message was delivered or read – an option popularly known as “seen” or “two dashes”.

While many people have adopted a more anonymous mode on WhatsApp to preserve their privacy, there are still many users who leave these viewing features enabled. For them, as well as everyone else, a new feature is on the way.

WhatsApp’s new ‘dash’ is about to be launched

A few years ago, there was a rumor that the third “dash” of WhatsApp would be added, but, as we know, nothing has been released so far.

However, the latest update of the famous messaging app will indeed bring users additional confirmation regarding messages sent.

This new feature will let users know if their message has been printed. That’s right! The feature popularly known as print is the diminutive for printscreen which, in English, means “screenshot”.

In other words, with this new update, it will be possible to know if someone took a screenshot of the messages in the conversation. This feature already exists in another application from Meta, the company responsible for WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.

On Instagram, for example, there is an indication if “single view” images have been printed, even to protect the security of users.

WhatsApp itself, in recent updates, added the ability to send “view once” images. However, unlike Instagram, WhatsApp does not allow users to take prints of these images.

Therefore, the WhatsApp team seems to be increasingly focusing on the security and transparency of its users. So far, there is no release date for the update in Brazil. But, according to what has been announced, it won’t be long!
