Currently, the most widely used tool for sending messages is WhatsApp. The app from Meta, which also owns Instagram, Facebook and the new Threads, has billions of users around the world. It offers a variety of features, such as free audio and video calls, instant messaging and media sharing.
The platform is frequently updated for the convenience of its users, remaining a leader among the most used networks. Although it has been on the market for years and is intuitive to use, many people still do not know all of its functions, some of which are “secret”, such as a so-called “hidden” camera.
WhatsApp has a ‘secret camera’ that few know about

Given the current way people connect, which includes sharing photos and videos of the exact moment they are experiencing, quick access to the camera can be very useful.
This is because sometimes we want to show something quickly or even stealthily. However, to do this, we need to enter the device’s password, open a conversation and only then take the photo.
Therefore, thinking about ease of access, WhatsApp has released a feature that is available for both Android and iOS devices. With this feature, it is possible to access the network’s camera more quickly, through a shortcut. This way, it becomes possible to take a photo and then choose who to send it to.
Below, check out how you can activate this function on each operating system.
How to enable this option
Android
- Press on some free space on your home screen;
- go to “Widgets” and search for WhatsApp;
- there you will find a camera icon, select it and a shortcut will be created;
- if there is no icon, then you can click on the WhatsApp icon itself and hold it for a few seconds;
- Once this is done, some quick chat options will appear, including access to the camera without having to open the app.
iOS
Now for iPhone, just click and hold on the app icon for a few moments for the camera option to open.
However, if none of the above options have worked, your app may be out of date. So, open your phone’s app store and search for WhatsApp. If it is out of date, simply update it and the option will be available.
Using this quick camera makes it even easier to enjoy the platform, as it is also available on WhatsApp Web. In it, you can create “stickers” directly from the app.
To do this, simply open the website on your computer, start a conversation, go to the options on the bottom bar and select “New Sticker”. Now, just edit it as you wish and enjoy!
