Top 9 Fixes for YouTube Restricted Mode Not Turning Off on Mobile and PC

When restricted mode is enabled, potentially adult content is eliminated. But a few YouTube users are experiencing a glitch where they are unable to disable Restricted mode. When some users play a video, ‘This video is not available with Restricted mode enabled. You will need to disable Restricted mode to view this video.’ Others see the message ‘YouTube Restricted mode turned on by network administrator’.

Let’s take a look at various solutions to fix YouTube not turning off restricted mode on Android, iPhone, iPad and computer.

1. Reboot Device

As always, the first fix is ​​to restart the respective device. If you cannot turn off Restricted mode from a computer, restart it. The same goes for Android, iPhone or iPad.

2. Follow Correct Steps to Disable Restriction Mode

Open on PC and sign in with your account. Click on the account icon at the top. Scroll down from the menu that appears and you will find the Restricted mode option. Click on it.

In case Enable Restricted Mode is greyed out, click on ‘Unlock Restricted mode in this browser’ located under the same setting. You will need to enter your Google account password. Note: Restricted mode is only enabled for a specific device. Turning it off on one device does not mean it will be disabled for your account on other devices. You will have to turn it off separately for each device, app or browser.

3. Check Account Restrictions

7. Clear Android App Cache

If Restricted mode doesn’t turn off in YouTube’s Android app, you need to clear app cache and data.
