Recent speculation suggests that TikTok, the short video platform that has become popular in recent times and is controlled by ByteDance, will soon offer a special service to its users. Through artificial intelligence, users will be able to create their own avatars.
Apparently, the program will be very similar to the tools already available on services such as Midjourney and Lensa. This great news has left the app’s users excited and anxious.
According to information, the new feature will be called “AI Avatars”, and through the tool, internet users will be able to send 3 to 10 photos of themselves, in addition to choosing five different art styles.
The AI will then generate at least 30 different avatars so that the Creator can download one or more models at once. In addition, it will be possible to use the images generated by the artificial intelligence not only on TikTok itself, but also on other social networks, including as a profile picture.
The tool developed by TikTok has more limitations and fewer features when compared to Lensa, however, the first results are quite encouraging, and the new feature has everything to be a huge success among the social network’s audience.
With this in mind, and in order to avoid a possible overload on the servers, the Chinese platform should limit this new feature to a single use per day (for each user).
However, despite the speculation and the announcement involving the use of artificial intelligence, the new feature still has no date to be implemented on the social network, and other information, such as whether it will be available in all countries where the platform operates, has also not been released.
TikTok’s controversial method
The use of Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly popular around the world, but images generated by AIs have been the subject of controversy and discussion in recent months.
In recent weeks, several artists have sued Lensa after discovering that the artificial intelligence was using parts of their work to generate personalized photos for users.
The United States is arguing that materials created by AIs should not be protected by copyright. They believe that it is not possible to “patent” something produced by a machine, even if the artificial intelligences are formed using content provided by humans.
Despite so much controversy, there is still no regulation for artificial intelligence, and so the subject must be treated with caution. Several countries around the world are still studying how to implement the new rules.
