Netflix Password: 3 Strategies to Get Around the New Sharing Rules

A recent implementation of an additional fee for sharing passwords in Netflix has generated intense debates and movements on the part of users.

Given this new policy, which seeks to prevent account sharing, many subscribers are looking for ways to get around the system and continue enjoying password sharing even though the company expressly prohibits this practice.

With the implementation of the new rule, Netflix began to charge an additional R$13 per user who links to the account but does not live in the same household as the main user. This change has a significant financial impact, especially for those who share accounts with friends or family.

Considering the most complete plan, which costs R$55.90, if we add three people who are not in the same household, the total cost of the subscription can reach around R$94.

This substantial increase has led many Brazilians to rethink their subscription to the streaming platform, as the additional cost may be too high for some people.

Given this scenario, many subscribers are looking for alternatives to avoid or get around the extra charge. Some are considering canceling their subscriptions, while others are exploring ways to continue sharing their passwords in a way that Netflix cannot identify.

So if your goal is to find a way to continue sharing your password with friends and family, the three tips below are for you!

For now, these 3 techniques may work

1. Login to friend’s house

If you are the user who will suffer the most from the additional charge for password sharing, as you are not the account holder, you can adopt a strategy to continue sharing the password by logging in to the same Wi-Fi as the owner.

This approach is based on the strategy that, when you log into the account while connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the owner, Netflix understands that you belong to the same household.

In this case, you can take advantage of the opportunity to share the password even if you are not in the same location as the account owner.

2. Don’t define the TV as ‘your home’

One such strategy is to avoid associating the TV as the primary or home device for the account. While this approach may work primarily for mobile users, it is still possible to enjoy the Netflix experience on your TV.

The option is to connect a notebook to the television via an HDMI cable, allowing content to be played on the TV screen from the computer.

This way, you can watch Netflix movies and series on a larger screen, without having to associate the television as the main point of the account.

Or you can mirror your smartphone’s content to your TV using features like Chromecast or compatible streaming devices.

3. Verification codes

Netflix has implemented a new system that sends a verification code to the account owner each time they attempt to log in.

However, it is important to highlight that it is possible to share the password successfully, as long as the verification code is informed to the user trying to log in within a period of 15 minutes.

This way, when entering the code received, this user can be defined as part of the household, allowing access to the shared account.

Finally, we would like to point out that these strategies may not be completely reliable. Netflix may enhance its security measures and implement additional restrictions to prevent unauthorized password sharing.
