Human longevity is a subject that has aroused the interest of researchers for many years. Although the lifespan of populations is getting longer and longer, this number is still not enough in the eyes of science.
By comparing human life with that of some animals that live longer, scholars identified a possible answer to this question. Understand how reprogramming human DNA, based on an animal, can provide many years of life.
Humans close to eternity
The study of life animal offers researchers several important aspects for the development of factors that improve the quality of life of humans. Likewise, the lifespan of some animals, such as whales, is something that generates curiosity and interest.
Recently, in an interview with the magazine Scientific Americanscientist João Pedro de Magalhães stated the possibility of prolonging human life through some modifications in genetic material.
The expert highlights that, although it is not yet possible to make such changes, as soon as the necessary technology is developed, the human body will be able to stop the aging process.

Change in human programming
To explain how this would happen, Magalhães alludes to a cell programming service that, in the first years of life, offers the process of growth and development. However, over time, this service does not work positively.
When compared to bowhead whales, which can live approximately 200 years, it is clear that human DNA does not contain an important element to stimulate cell repair. If humanity possessed this factor, the average life expectancy could approach a thousand years.
In the expert’s view, this new programming can help people live up to 20 thousand years. However, an important question must be raised: how would the planet and the entire system survive these almost immortal humans?

So everyone would have to adapt to the new reality and learn a little from bowhead whales.
