The video quickly gained popularity, especially after being shared by a digital influencer who adopted the name and image of “Vector”, a character from the film “Despicable Me”.
The video, originally posted on TikTok on August 27, it reached almost 980 thousand views, a number that jumped to more than 2 million when it was shared on platform X, Twitter’s successor.
However, a more detailed analysis reveals that the unusual idea is nothing more than a setup. Advanced editing techniques were applied to combine images of a falling smartphone with images of a device wrapped in inflatable material.
When looking closely at the material, you can see the use of adhesive tape to attach the plastic to the material. devicedebunking the supposed “airbag” technology.
The episode serves as a reminder of the power of social media and the need to remain critical of viral content. Often, what appears to be revolutionary may just be a well-edited joke.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that a similar innovation has been discussed. In 2018, student Philip Frenzel, from Germany, presented a project called ADcase.
It was a reusable case with sensors that detected falls and released flexible flaps to protect the device. Unfortunately, the idea, despite being promising, did not obtain sufficient funding in its Kickstarter campaign and was never implemented.
Therefore, for now, the maximum protection of cell phones remains traditional cases and films. Meanwhile, innovative and fun ideas like those shown in the videos continue to attract attention and provoke laughter.
