The rift between British UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett and Illia Topuria has gone viral on the internet recently. It happened in London this Saturday before their own fight at UFC London.
Topuria posted a video on Twitter where she wrote:
“This is what happens if you disrespect me and my country! You saw me and wanted to greet me because you fucked up your pants… and you should thank my team for not tearing me apart, I would have ripped your head off. @theufcbaddy”
It all started when Paddy Pimblett commented on the Russo-Georgian war. He apparently made fun of the Georgians who died in the war. This did not go well with Topuria, and he warned Paddy for the same remark: “She needs to pray that our paths don’t cross because I’m going crazy.” In an interview with MMA Junkie. That’s exactly what he did when he met Pimblett in London.
Paddy Pimblett talks about the argument with Illia Topuria
Paddy He explained the whole scenario on his YouTube channel Mom’s basement with Robbie Fox. Talking about what happened, Paddy said:
“He comes, he saw me alone… he leaves the room with his six sons. He looked at me and I looked at him, obviously he was talking shit on Twitter last week…. He walked up to me and said something in Spanish, I don’t know because I don’t understand Spanish and when he got close I said what happened. Then he does this (throws a punch) “
But Paddy claims he wasn’t hit, but instead threw a splashing bottle of disinfectant over Topuria’s head. He also believes that Illia didn’t actually want to hit him because he was afraid of the consequences, so he just trained to create a scene.
“So if he wanted to do something, he could. So I just stood there with six guys, they look at me and they’re like ‘what? Come do something’ I’m not one of them. said Paddy.
But Paddy Pimblett apologized for his comments on the Russo-Georgian war and even deleted the tweets a year ago. But it seems Ilya Topurya didn’t forget.
