Beneil Dariush could truly go down as the only fighter who doesn’t want to fight against superstar MMA fighter Conor McGregor. As the entire division, including former champion Charles Oliveira, pursues a potential fight against The Notorious One, Dariush wants to face off against opponents who will test his skills.
Conor McGregor has been out for a while and has promised little that he’ll be back in 2022. Dariush spoke in an exclusive interview before his fight with Moyens I/O MMA. UFC 280 and explained why he won’t be fighting “The Notorious One.”
“Honestly no. I’d rather fight someone better and fight someone relevant and competitive with a winning record.” said Dariush talking to Moyens I/O. Dariush has now set his sights on the lightweight championship and wants to fight for the title any way it takes. After his fight against Gamrot at UFC 280, the top-ranked lightweight is looking to fight someone on a winning streak.

Beneil Dariush believes Conor McGregor won’t be fighting anytime soon
It’s been a while since we saw the Irish superstar fight in the octagon. McGregor is currently recovering from a devastating injury sustained in his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Irishman has made great progress since breaking his leg but is still unsure when he will return.
“I don’t think Conor really wants to fight. “I don’t think he’s going to fight anytime soon, and with that, I want to fight the best guys,” he said. Said Beneil Dariush in an interview with Moyens I/O. Beneil Dariush was very frank in his answer about a possible matchup with McGregor.
Beneil Dariush will take on 9th-place Mateusz Gamrot in a lightweight match of three rounds or less on the main card of UFC 280. The fight will take place this weekend at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
