Mohammed Mokaev openly challenges Charles Johnson to stop takedowns.

Mohammed Mokaev and Charles Johnson are arguably the most exciting matchups in the UFC London preliminaries. The 21-year-old, who has an undefeated 30-fight Amateur career, has achieved similar success professionally, winning all 7 of his fights. In fact, in his UFC debut, at the March UFC event in London, Mokaev finished an exciting first round against his opponent with a mix of striking and surrender.

But Mokaev’s latest challenger may be his toughest fight yet. Charles Johnson is a former LFA fighter who was the flyweight champion there. He will face Mokaev in his UFC debut as his 11-2 career 4-game winning streak continues. His latest defeat came at the hands of top UFC contender Brandon Royval.

While talking to MMA Junkie, on the streets of London, Charles Johnson described a brief training session he shared with Mokaev at Tiger muay Thai. He would describe the ordeal as nothing conspicuous, but Mokaev actually “Great for its age” Johnson argued that he could stop Mokaev’s takedown because he believed the young fighter was fighting his ego.

Today, Mokaev responded to these comments from Charles. Even before his expression was revealed, it was two people who would almost get into a fight, especially at the ceremonial scales, but were stopped at the last moment. Apparently unable to contain himself after this tense encounter, Mokaev took to Twitter tomorrow to warn his opponent of his fate.

“I don’t know how these skinny legs want to stop my takedown, wow” He wrote of Mokaev while questioning the 31-year-old’s defensive ability to beat, which Mokaev often refers to as the “Old Man.” “I’m telling you now, Charles, I’m going to take you down, see if you can stop me?”

There appears to be animosity between Mokaev and Johnson and they will have the opportunity to settle their differences in the UFC London qualifiers. A win over Johnson could mean Mokaev’s next opponent could be in the top 15. Mokawv also expressed interest in competing in the UFC 280, Abu Dhabi card.

Johnson, on the other hand, promised he was ready to create epic proportions for the London crowd. A win over an exaggerated prospect like Mokaev could very well expand Johnson’s UFC venture, which he firmly believes belongs to the elite.
