Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington are currently fighting each other over a battery case in the Florida legal system. Due to the tension surrounding their battle, fans speculated whether any of them would return to the ring.
Based on how the UFC had handled previous legal issues, it was assumed that the promotion would simply distance itself. For example, after a hit-and-run incident, Jon Jones was stripped of his Light Heavyweight title and suspended. It seems that Dana White is not bothered by the legal issue and is willing to let her two top heavyweights fight if they want to. This gives them an opportunity to fight before the case is decided.
