Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, took to Twitter to stand up for the women’s sport. On the social media platform, Ohanian suggested that women’s sport should not be seen as a charity and should receive the respect it deserves as it generates more, if not as much, as men’s sport.

Ohanian on Twitter, “Last year. The guys are great too. But stop seeing women’s sports as a charity and treat it like it’s profit or the center of attention.” He said it after he shared a post by The Hill stating that the women’s match was watched more than the men’s match at the US Open last year.

The response came as he received a lot of criticism after he posted a video dedicated to his wife, Serena Williams, in the video he said, I’m recording this for ESPN because they promised me they would cover more women’s sports. Congratulations, Serena. You changed the world. This is just the beginning.”

His wife, Serena Williams received a great reception in the first round match. US Open as eaten Danka KvinicWilliams will face Anett Kontaveit in the second round of the tournament.
