In another episode, to honor the Williams sisters and celebrate their legacy, The Smithsonian presented them with the National Portrait Award. Overjoyed, Serena Williams took to social media to share her thoughts on the honor bestowed upon her.
“I literally know only one way to hold a trophy… UP! I’m here to be in the Smithsonian NPG,” posting a photo of him holding the award.He read the headline.
He also shared pictures of portraits he had made, which are currently on display at the National Portrait Gallery.
“Having a photo next to so many historical icons in the Smithsonian NPG? I’m really confused. But to be accepted with your sister? The best feeling ever. Thank you Toyin Ojih Odutola for your vision of having a treasure smile. We need to see more than that. And Robert Pruitt, what a sensational vision you have of Venus Williams,” The text of the 23 times Grand Slam champion was read.
Portraits of both Williams sisters were displayed in the National Portrait Gallery. The portraits were made by famous New York artists Robert Pruitt and Toyin Ojih Odutola.

Legacy of Serena Williams
Serena Williams’ name is synonymous with tennis. She is one of the most successful tennis players and possibly the greatest female tennis player to play this game.
He has won all the Grand Slams multiple times throughout his career. She also won the 1999 Grand Slam Cup (discontinued), the WTA Finals 5 times, and the 2012 London Olympics gold medal in the women’s singles event. Along with her sister Venus Williams, she dominated the women’s doubles and won three Olympic gold medals in addition to winning all Grand Slams.
He also helped Team USA win the Fed Cup (now Billie Jean King Cup) once and the Hopman Cup twice. He also won Wimbledon and US Open Mixed doubles titles with Max Mirnyi in 1998.
But his legacy goes beyond all those gold medals and trophies. His most important contribution to the sport is to give the black community a reason to claim their respectful position in American civil society. It inspired them to dream and dream big in life.
Many times he has given the people of his country great reasons to rejoice. It put a smile on the face of millions of Americans and made billions happy around the world.
This is the great legacy of Serena Williams and her sister Venus Williams, and they deserve all the credit for it. Venus is still sporting and Serena continues to taunt fans about her comeback. We don’t know what the two sisters will do in the future, but what they did in the past is enough to call them the Elders.
