Roger Federer gives an important clue about his coaching plans, following the example of Stefan Edberg

Old World No. 1 Roger Federer He is considered one of the greatest players of all time and with his patience, courage and determination he set very high standards for the next generation. He retired with 103 ATP titles, the second most in tennis history, including 20 Grand Slam titles. After his retirement, he took part in an event organized by his sponsor Uniqlo in Tokyo.

Federer made his farewell game at the 2022 Laver Cup as he wrote a heartfelt letter to announce his retirement. It was one of the most emotional nights in tennis history, where everyone, including their arch rivals, said goodbye in tears. The irony was that the Swiss lost their last singles and last doubles competition.

He played his last singles match at Wimbledon in 2021, followed by a third knee surgery that kept him off the field for months. Roger Federer opened up about his post-retirement plans, explaining that he may take on the role of a coach in the future, but that this is not part of his immediate plans. He admitted that he wanted to spend time with his four children.

during interviewexpressed”Coaching… I mean never say never. Stefan Edberg said the same thing, he’s never going to coach until he gets a call from me and I invited him to practice and he said ‘okay, let me try for a year’. Right now I don’t see myself as coaching while my four kids are going to school and everything is going on.”

Continuing the chain of thought,If a teenager comes along and needs some support or advice, I’m happy to do so. With the Next Generation development program at UNIQLO, I think I will do more mentoring and inspiring children’s day clinics for now.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion refused to join Swiss Indoors after the Laver Cup, claiming he wasn’t ready for another farewell mentally and emotionally. During his appearance in Tokyo, he played an exhibition match with wheelchair tennis champions Shingo Kunieda and Gordon Reid and Japanese Tennis star Kei Nishikori.

During the match, Nishikori humorously asked if his gear was distracting him. Roger Federer was quick to respond with a hilarious reply that split everyone in half for claiming to be his post-retirement look. Uniqlo has previously announced that it will host a special ceremony in Tokyo to pay homage to the 8-time Wimbledon champion and give fans a chance to revel in the Swiss legend’s journey and achievements.

A unique coaching and mentoring session with Roger Federer was also part of this programme. His journey from a ball boy to becoming one of the sport’s legends is one of the best examples of hard work and has left people inspired by his grace and calm demeanor.
