Novak Djokovic’s US Open ban, “Must enter at our southern border…no vax requirement there”, sparks political uproar on social media

There has never been a more dramatic and chaotic season. Novak Djokovic‘s career is more than the 2022 season. The Serb started the season in Australia in turmoil, where he was denied entry and his visa was revoked due to his vaccination status. After 10 days of fighting, he was eventually deported and not allowed to defend his Australian Open title.

He was later denied entry to the USA and therefore not allowed to compete in the Golden Swing- Indian Wells Masters and Miami Masters. Grounds got off to a bad start to the season and later lost to Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals of the French Open. To date, it has only managed to win one title this season and has also dropped to 3rd place in the World Rankings. He won’t get any points at Wimbledon this year and will therefore lose 2000 points from last year, which would push him outside of the Top 5.

And now the US has also confirmed that “unvaccinated foreigners” will not be allowed into the country, which means Djokovic will miss the US Open as well. The rule is ridiculous because most of the people in the country are vaccinated and it doesn’t seem reasonable to impose anything on someone in these ‘not so extreme’ times.
