“I know these are tough times for you, but you really have to remember what a great inspiration you have been for all of us, not just as athletes, but as human beings. Basically these are not empty words because you know that and I know you inspire me too.” Swiatek said in a video message via Eurosport.
“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to chat and talk with you and maybe one day meet you when COVID clears. So I really hope you’ll keep going and continue to be as strong as you are because you’re doing great,” he added.
There’s still a glimmer of hope for Shriffin, who went skiing at the mixed team event on Saturday, to win a medal.
