This is his fourth singles title this year and his tenth career singles title. Sabalenka, on the other hand, won another final in 2022 but failed to win the tournament. This was the third WTA final this year.
Garcia broke Sabalenka’s resistance and took the first set 7-6 (7-4). The Belarusian made a double mistake on this set in the service, which cost the set. The French then lost 6-4 to Belarus in the second set, eventually saving the 2022 WTA Finals title for him. His win over Sabalenka in the final earned him $1.24 million with a $110,000 base entry fee.
Based on total financial rewards, the winner of WTA Finals 2022, Caroline Garcia, will take home a whopping $1.57 million. Aryna Sabalenka will receive $1.19 million for her performance throughout the tournament. The winner of the doubles event will take home $365,000.
