american tennis icon Andy Roddick recently spoke about his monumental rise carlos alcaraz but he also believes that despite everything, Djokovic is still the best player in the world. Alcaraz started the year outside of the Top 30 and finished it as the youngest #1 in the world. He also won the US Open along with several Masters tournaments.
Speaking to Tennis Channel, Roddick said Alcaraz’s rise was meteoric and claimed he passed the eye test for someone who will win many majors in the future. He praised him for being World No. 1 at such a young age, but also added that no one can deny that Djokovic is currently the best player in the world.
“This boy’s rise has been meteoric and he’s clearly passing the eye test for a winner. Getting to number one so quickly is a different story. As we look forward to next year, I think you’ll have a hard time finding someone who doesn’t think Novak Djokovic is the best player in the world.said.

Andy Roddick believes Carlos Alcaraz is a tribute to tennis
Roddick also said that Alcaraz’s year-end World No. 1 ranking is well deserved, calling it an incredible feat to watch. He wished to be in Turin for the ATP Finals but added that he has a long future ahead of him. Finally, he said that Alcaraz makes a great gift for tennis in general.
“But the number one rank is Carlos Alcaraz. He deserved. It was incredible to watch this year. I wish he was in Turin (ATP Finals) this week and mixed with these outstanding players but we want health. He has a long career ahead of him. What a tribute to the Alcaraz game.” said.
Alcaraz’s season ended at the Paris Masters and he was eliminated from the ATP Finals due to a tummy tuck. Reportedly, Australia will not compete in any development tournaments in the summer and will not directly Australian Open as the top seed.
