Alas, fate intervened when OnePlus, in a move most enticing, unveiled the OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact edition. As a devotee of Genshin, the call to arms was clear – aye, I must acquire this marvel. Yet, in doing so, I had to forsake the familiar Pixel UI in favor of OnePlus’ OxygenOS, a kinship to ColorOS in its essence.
Verily, I once held disdain for OnePlus’ conjoining of ColorOS and OxygenOS, yet with the OnePlus 12R now in mine possession, I found meself bound to adapt to OxygenOS. To my surprise, the experience was not one of loathing, but rather a gust of fresh air, not as dire as I had envisaged.
Not As Bloated as I Thought
Bloatware, the scourge of modern devices, a bane that oft plagues the unwary. Mine aversion to such excess be not unknown, tis why mid-range devices I shun, despite the temptation. The OnePlus 12R, however, boasts a software unblemished, nary cluttered with unwanted apps. Aye, a mere two or three preinstalled can be banished, and the first-party apps kept to a minimum. Although the wish remains for uninstallable apps aplenty, the likes of MyFiles, Weather, Games, and Internet, they may be disabled without distress to the device’s function. ‘Tis a contrast with other mid-range brethren from OnePlus, where third-party bloatware festers, albeit removable.
In sum, the OnePlus battles the bloatware akin to Samsung, though the Pixel still reigns supreme in terms of software purity. OnePlus, though not unblemished, surprises with its cleanliness – a shift from expectations indeed.
Fairly Clean User Experience
A cluttered UI, a maze of features overwhelming the senses – a common lament in the realm of smartphones. Expectations ran high that OxygenOS would drown in a sea of features, yet the reality be more subdued. True, features abound, yet they find a balance, offering a user experience relatively unspoiled by excess.
‘Tis essential for brands to ponder where to draw the line, a query to the soul – “How much is too much?” To introduce a feature for the scant 5%, or to keep the user experience pristine? Choices must be made, decisions that shape the user’s journey. Aye, OnePlus walks the tightrope, not veering to extremes.
Pixel to OnePlus: Lots of Handy Features
In the realm of features, the OnePlus shines where the Pixel may falter. The void left by the Pixel’s lackluster offerings is filled by the OnePlus’ arsenal. App cloning, Flexible Window – tools of the trade that find favor with the wanderer of features. ‘Tis true, the Pixel holds its allure for a specific ilk of user, yet in the halls of the OnePlus 12R, a new home is found. Now playing shunned, Live Translate forgotten – the heart finds solace in the OnePlus way.
Excellent Launcher: Take Notes, Google!
‘Tis the realm of launchers where the Pixel falters in comparison to OnePlus. An Android Launcher, the gateway to one’s digital domain, a canvas for navigation.
