Razer Phone 2 is now official. The gaming smartphone now has to deal with a much more competitive market than when the first version was released at the end of 2017, with many manufacturers coming in this segment such as Xiaomi, Honor or Asus. Even Samsung got into this business by focusing on video games, and Fortnite in particular, to sell the Galaxy Note 9. As a result, we wondered which was the best between the Razer Phone 2 and the Galaxy Note 9.

As you can see, the specifications of the Galaxy Note 9 and Razer Phone 2 are quite similar. Quite logically we find the same Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 8GB of RAM (for the most expensive Note 9). Even the battery has the same capacity: 4000 mAh. On the other hand, there is a huge advantage given to the Samsung smartphone in terms of storage, which is only 64GB for the Razer Phone 2. Not enough for an assortment where you need to load large games.
Who says game, says screen quality. And in this art, Samsung has been a master for years. Like all S and Note series smartphones, the Note 9 has a well-designed panel. Its 6.4 inch size also makes it an incredible multimedia support. The Razer Phone 2 uses LCD technology instead of OLED, and its screen is smaller (5.7 inches). But to avoid lags, it has an extraordinary 120Hz refresh rate for a smartphone. But I’m not sure this feature is that important for a mobile game.
Which one has the best design?
The two smartphones each have an imposing size and are not particularly light. When it comes to grip, they may not be for everyone. Aesthetically, there’s a world between the attractive Galaxy Note 9 and the brutal Razer Phone 2 with its thick bezels and 16:9 aspect ratio, while Samsung’s smartphone has a much more screen ratio for its time. Its falling edges, on the other hand, make it more fragile, with far less falls where Razer fears.
Razer Phone 2 and Note 9’s value for money
The Razer Phone 2 costs €849 in France, €1009 for the Note 9 (€1259 for the 8GB / 512GB version). If we compare their specifications, technical data sheets and prices with their competitors, the two smartphones have a rather unattractive price-quality ratio. Finally, it offers quite a few gadget possibilities, each of which is directly reflected in the price of the smartphone.
For purely gaming use, the Razer Phone 2 does the job perfectly. The multimedia experience is top-notch, with its screen and stereo speakers. If you want to use your smartphone not only for gaming but also for taking photos or for more professional use, then it is better to invest a little more in the Note 9, which is much more versatile and much higher in camera terms. anxious. If you don’t need the S-Pen, the cheaper S9 or S9+ might be tempting. But keep in mind that the Note 9, with less RAM and no cooling system, falls short for gaming despite all its features.
