Pocophone F1 and OnePlus 6: comparison of technical sheets

The Pocophone F1 was made official in India on August 22, 2018 and will be available in France from August 27. Promise: A very powerful and ultra-fast smartphone for a very low price. During the launch conference, the Pocophone F1 was repeatedly compared to the OnePlus 6, which Xiaomi is clearly aiming for. While we wait for the smartphone to be in our hands to decide, we can always rely on the technical sheet for a first idea.

Display: LCD and OLED

One of the main differences between the Pocophone F1 and OnePlus 6 is definitely on the screen. The former offers a diagonal of 6.18 inches compared to 6.28 inches for the latest OnePlus flagship. Pretty negligible difference. On the other hand, OnePlus 6 stands out thanks to its OLED panel, while we find IPS LCD technology in Pocophone F1. That doesn’t stop Xiaomi from generally offering very good screens, but it may still be a shortcoming for some users. We stay at Full HD+ resolution on both sides.

Performance: two very fast smartphones

SoC Snapdragon 845 and variants with 6/8GB RAM and 64/128/256GB storage on both sides, it’s hard to decide between them at the moment. We even note the presence of a microSD port on the Pocophone F1, unlike the OnePlus 6.

Playing all of this to decide between them will likely be at the software level. Both smartphones are marketed under Android 8.1 Oreo. OnePlus 6 will soon qualify for the Android 9.0 Pie update, available in beta. Xiaomi promises to work miracles with its MIUI 9.6 interface and conducted an app launch speed test on the Pocophone F1 against the OnePlus 6. test was done. The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 beat the OnePlus 6 in the Geekbench test, but we’re still waiting for something more concrete to be sure.

Both smartphones are as tall and wide as each other, but the Pocophone F1 is thicker. That’s enough to put a larger 4000mAh battery against the 3300mAh for the OnePlus. Therefore, we can expect better autonomy in Xiaomi’s smartphone, given that they have quite similar performance and a similar screen definition. But software optimization will ultimately decide. On the other hand, there is no doubt that the fast charging of the OnePlus 6 will be more efficient than the Pocophone F1 using Quick Charge 3.0 technology. In this field, OnePlus is a champion with Dash Charge.

Price: Pocophone F1 is the cheapest smartphone with Snapdragon 845 in the market

It’s on the price side that the Pocophone F1 could be a killer. Here are the rates announced for India:

  • 6GB RAM + 64GB internal memory = 260 euros
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB internal memory = 300 euros
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB internal memory = 360 euros
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB Kevlar version internal memory = 370 euros

Prices in France will surely be higher. However, the version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory will most likely sell for less than 400 euros. The same variant of the OnePlus 6 is being marketed in France for 519 euros. If they have a hard time deciding on the technical sheet and certainly on performance in real conditions, the Pocophone F1 can therefore hit very hard, thanks to its quality-price ratio. PhonAndroid will be present at the launch of the Pocophone F1 on August 27, 2018, so we’ll be able to tell you more very soon. By the way, you can find the full test of the OnePlus 6 here.
