‘Tis a rare sight to behold, for the brand hath ventured beyond the realms of the traditional Black and White phones. The audio realm hath recently been graced with a playful new hue – the Nothing Ear in ‘Yellow’.
But lo and behold, the new Blue Nothing Phone 2a hath arrived. The hardware and software aspects remain unwaveringly the same. Will this azure marvel sway my affection from the White option, or is it truly the epitome of Phone 2a hues? Having all three colors in my possession, I delved deep into their essence. Herein lies my musings.
Nothing Phone 2a Blue Edition:
Behold the new Blue Edition, a blend of dark indigo and a light azure hue – none other than ‘ash blue’. The iconic Glyph Interface proudly rests in its three-striped splendor in this novel cerulean shade.
The plastic frame, though bathed in blue, retains its black volume and power buttons. They neither stand out as they do on the white variant nor harmonize exquisitely with the blue frame.
‘Tis worth noting Nothing’s keen eye for detail – the branding and requisite CE marking on the Phone 2a’s rear gleam in ash blue. Even the screws bear the same hue, forsaking their silver garb.
Compared to its ebony and ivory counterparts, the Blue Edition strikes a harmonious balance. Stepping forth from the duo-tone cocoon, this color choice, though not revolutionary, takes a courageous step towards vibrancy. If I were to choose amongst the trio, White would be my prime choice, with Blue as a close second.
A deeper inspection reveals that on the hardware forefront, certain aspects demanded scrutiny. The ensuing tests bore fruit, yielding intriguing revelations.
Better Display Tuning?
This Blue Edition of the Nothing Phone 2a boasts superior display tuning. Somewhat cooler in essence, this is evident when perusing the phone’s settings against a white backdrop.
I meticulously examined the display settings across all variants, only to discover a variance. The Blue Edition’s tones resonate more naturally, while its counterparts veer towards warmer hues. The Blue Edition reigns supreme, enhancing even the Whites’ radiance.
A Minor Software Downside (For Now)
On the software front, the Blue variant faces a slight setback. While its brethren bask in the glow of Nothing OS 2.5.5, the Blue variant remains anchored to the older 2.5.4.b version. Alas, updates are yet to grace its digital shores, depriving it of the latest enhancements. But fear not, for Nothing’s legacy assures swift updates in due time.
In matters of color, I find myself unable to bestow favor upon a singular variant. This choice is deeply personal, and while the White allure captivates me, perhaps the Blue holds your heart. The Blue variant undeniably enriches the Nothing Phone 2a color spectrum, a welcome addition indeed.
Moreover, this venture into diverse color palettes signifies Nothing’s emergence from the monochromatic veil. From the ‘Yellow’ Ear (a) to this azure beauty, the brand’s sublimity in color choices heralds a new era. Could this vibrant evolution pave the path for more hues in CMF’s rumored debut smartphone?
