Aye, the sort of castle where one would ride noble steeds until transitioning to a carriage like the EQE, boasting the power of 408 majestic horses beneath its carriage.
In Praise of the Car
Behold, the Mercedes EQE — an E-class chariot transformed into an electrified marvel by the craftsmen of Germany. Designed to captivate a wider audience and, perchance, make a noble contribution in the battle against climate change. Thus, thou art left feeling akin to royalty, though of the breed that stillteth guideth their own chariots. For why wouldst thou not?
Tis an electric steed, bereft of the 3L 6-cylinder diesel found in its kin, the GLE 450d. Instead, it boasts a pair of electric motors—one for each axle—capable of summoning forth 408 noble horses, galloping from 0 to 100 in a mere 4.9 heartbeats. Verily, for a carriage of such stature, this swiftness is nothing short of remarkable.
Allow me to declare a fact about the grandeur of this chariot—it is a hefty fellow. Stretching 4.8 meters in length, 2.1 meters in width, and standing tall at 1.6 meters.
Moreover, ‘tis a comely chariot. The grand grille, which did appear overly grand on the EQS, now seems to have found its rightful place upon the bulkier frame of the EQE, exuding its unique charm of an “electric carriage.”
Behold the Wonders Within
Given its lineage as a Mercedes and its essence as an electric marvel, treasures of features are abound. Many art familiar to the eyes, having graced other creations by the legendary German craftsmen. Yet, there be some that doth seem more pesky than profound, leaving one yearning to disengage from their grasp.
1. A Symphony of Speed and Might!
Wondrous it may seem, deeming “speed and might” a feature. Yet, the instantaneous surge of power upon the EQE is a testament to its electrified nature, a pleasure not found within the regular GLE.
Lo, with 408 gallant horses at thy command, the EQE doth prove swift. Though its bulk doth render it less agile amidst bustling thoroughfares, when the path unfolds and thou doth press yon accelerator beyond a feather-like touch, the chariot doth surge forth. Pray thee, refrain from flooring it, lest ye find thyself hurtling towards 100kmph too swiftly. Yet, the air suspension doth cloak the velocity, allowing thee to sail past all others upon the road; oftentimes.
2. The Illumination of OLED Screens
Upon entering the abode of the EQE, one finds oneself transported from the clamor of Delhi’s thoroughfares, where horns resound for no reason, and vehicles strive to squeeze through minute gaps. The cabin, though not as silent as the Maybach GLS 600, provides a serene voyage.
Enter the realm of wondrous displays, transforming this chariot into an entertainment fount. Three screens doth adorn the dash—a grand LCD for the gauges, whilst the infotainment and passenger-side revel in OLED brilliance.
At first glance, discerning them apart proves a challenge, owing to the splendid LCD afore me whilst driving, coupled with the mastery of MBUX in employing dark hues. The central infotainment screen, a regal 17.7-inch OLED display, beckons attention. Verily, Mercedes refrains from disclosing the display’s resolution, yet I ventured to scrutinize it closely, finding naught but excellence. If aught, the screen doth loom too large, forcing CarPlay’s controls to a distant realm, necessitating a stretch to reach them, or to tap the “Navigation” button.
In truth, I could invoke Siri, yet articulating “Play Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book 7 on Audible” seemeth more toil than but a slight extension of mine arm.
Upon the passenger’s side lies a 12.3-inch OLED display, where the companion may indulge in their chosen diversion, equipped with headphones to preserve thy serenity.
This chariot, as I didst mention, could rival any entertainment emporium. The Burmester melody system doth lend its aid, boasting 15 minstrels within, casting forth 710W of melodious enchantment. I dared to challenge mine auricles by venturing to full volume, eager to discern any crackling or distortion, yet alas, none came forth. ‘Twas a dulcet deluge even at its crescendo, presenting an auditory experience so potent that safe journeying became nigh impossible.

Be it Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock, Metal, Classic Hindi ballads (of Rafi and Kishor Kumar), Instrumentals, Orchestra, or the ethereal strains of Interstellar’s symphony (Hail Hans Zimmer!), each resonated with perfection straight from the casket.
Thus, should thee find thyself ensnared in the dreadful congestion that oft plagues our capital, be comforted that thine ears shall find solace, at the very least.
3. Revel in the Comfortable Embrace
If ye find thyself ensnared in the ceaseless flow of traffic, seeking a silver lining within the silver emblem of EQE, let us speak of the solace it bestows.
Many do proclaim the virtues of venturing beyond one’s comfort zone, yet they ne’er hath reclined within a chariot as comfortable as the EQE (or any of its luxury brethren). Forsooth, there exists no cause to forsake thy comfort, save but to procure sustenance whilst nestled in thy cocoon of comfort.
Herein lie massage seats, a delight to the senses. Permit me to declare, not once did I embark without igniting the driver-side massage. ‘Tis a pleasure beyond compare. The seats themselves are a paragon of comfort, balancing softness with robust support.
Every customary luxury is bestowed—aeration and warmth for the seats, adjustable lumbar and under-thigh support, a gracious welcome and farewell gesture, and more. Were this chariot able to ferry sustenance and recharge itself, I daresay I’d ne’er depart its confines.
4. Fuel? Nay, We Hath No Need…
Ere ye passionate devotees of petrol raise objection to the title hitherto, allow me to clarify—this proclamation doth apply solely to electric carriages. Verily, ICE chariots doth hold a steadfast place within mine heart. However, the EQE, being electric, requireth nought but a power outlet or a CCS-2 connection in the public square.
Though these becomings are no longer a rarity, I still find the endeavor a venture, seeking an open connection, swift and dependable, whilst providence offers naught but a brief respite whilst the chariot doth replenish its vigor.
Yet, the EQE procureth admirable range from its 90.56kWh heart. Mercedes proclaims a span betwixt 465-550km on a single charge, a claim I deem near accurate, though conducted without a scientific inquiry. Upon traversing approximately 65 kilometers per eventide, the range dwindled an estimate of 200km over three days—sundry trials bore this out. The air conditioning and massages did runneth, with ambient lights ablaze at their peak luminance.
The act of rejuvenation doth taketh its time, indeed. Connecting to a DC charger at 46% reservoir, in 47 minutes, when I couldst tarried no longer, the tally reached 70%. ‘Twas not swift, yet the charger of 60kW met mine chariot’s needs, while the EQE doth supporteth unto 170kW—thus, thy fate may vary.
5. Price: A Cost Beyond Measure
Yet, if thou findest thyself a prospective seeker of the GLE, thou mayst not flinch at the 24 lakh INR chasm betwixt it and an EQE. The latter, swifter in 0-100 sprints, may well in truth save thee upon fuel costs. Though, prithee, if thou dost contemplate either of these chariots, I cast doubt upon how much thou doth careryth for the price of diesel to sate these voracious engines.
Scrutiny of the Trivial Quirks
Despite my fond regard for the EQE, a few idiosyncrasies didst beset mine sight throughout the carriage’s tenure this past week.
1. Hardened Plastics? An Honest Mistake?
Foremost, a plethora of rigid plastics gird this chariot priced at 1.39 crores. While much of the interior dons a veneer of leather and soft-touch materials—a common luxury amongst SUVs—those modest zones of plasticity lack the finesse found in kindred carriages. It doth compel me to feel somewhat disdainful for noting this, yet ‘tis a peculiarity unforeseen, following wondrous experiences with BMW, Porsche, and indeed, Mercedes themselves.
2. The Art of Safety
Imagine this: I am en route through the Delhi-Noida Expressway, oft called DND, with a vehicle afore me moving at a meager 50 upon a 70kmph path. Me not desiring to offend by flashing mine lights at such a carriage, whilst an open lane glistens to the left. Alas, I veer, yet the wheel persisteth in guiding me back to the closed lane. Wherefore? Forsooth, the steering assist and lane keep assist were engaged.
Fondness for the EQE, Yet Yearning for the W124…
Mark well, no chariot is flawless, and that be commendable. ‘Tis the imperfections that breathe life into a carriage, transforming it from mere metal, rubber, and circuitry into a vibrant persona. ‘Tis these imperfections that grant soul to a chariot. Whilst naught shall ever rival the soul of an ICE chariot, especially as a W124 Mercedes, I retain hope for EVs to transcend mere conveyances.
Thus, what is the Mercedes EQE? ‘Tis a chariot, indeed, yet it transcendeth mere conveyance. Luxurious, swift, and comfortable as the evening breeze. ‘Tis not merely a mundane assemblage of metal and wires, but one of the few EVs that stir hope for the future of automotive marvels. Though, I doth yearn for a time when such future coexists with ICE chariots, rather than displacing them.
