Gamebench site has published an interesting comparison of the viewing quality of games between different devices under Android and iOS. The difference between two smartphone screens, where the resolution often exceeds 300 pixels per inch, is not always obvious to the human eye, but what we see by zooming significant differences from one device to anothermore or less obvious differences depending on the games tested.

As we saw in the previous Gamebench test, from one platform to another and even from one device to another, the frame rate is not always the same. Same for the definition. For example on Galaxy S6, Asphalt 8 is capped at 30fps and Real Racing 3 to 720p HD definition. The test proposed today consists of comparing the graphics quality of a dozen games across three devices, none other than the iPhone 6 (HD 750p), iPhone 6 Plus (Full HD 1080p), and Samsung, each offering a different screen definition. Galaxy S6 (Quad HD 1440p).
Games tested: Asphalt 8, Real Racing 3, Dead Trigger 2, Kill Shot, Boom Beach, XCOM: Enemy Within, GTA: San Andreas, Modern Combat 5, Marvel: Contest of Champions, and Monument Valley. As in the previous test.
In some titles we do not perceive any difference, in others the image is clear. Better on Galaxy S6. These are Dead Trigger 2, Kill Shot, Monument Valley, Marvel: Contest of Champions, and a good half of the games, XCOM: Enemy Within. Others also look better on the iPhone 6 Plus. As you can see from the screenshots provided, a small zoom is all it takes to spot any blurring or pixelation effects.
- kidnapping : best smartphones for gaming
Should we conclude that the Galaxy S6 is the best of the three? for games? Well it’s not mandatory. If Samsung’s latest flagship is doing this well, it’s thanks to its Quad HD display. Its high definition makes it possible to display more pixels, so rendering is better. But apart from that, it is only valid for games that can reach such high resolution.
For example, if we compare the results obtained in Real Racing 3, we immediately see that the iPhone 6 does the best. Why ? simply because the game can only run in HD 720p. As we saw earlier, not all games necessarily work according to the native definition of phones. But on the other hand the performance will be better as it works in Quad HD.
