This Sunday, August 25, the Youtuber of the Phonebuff channel tested the ruggedness of Apple’s flagship iPhone XS Max, which launched at the end of 2018, and the Galaxy Note 10+, the latest addition to Samsung’s Note series. The two rivals share a few features: they’re covered in glass, have a Samsung-signed AMOLED display, and are protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
Galaxy Note 10+ and iPhone XS Max: and the winner of this drop test…
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10+! The South Korean smartphone, which was badly damaged at the end of the event, still managed to narrowly snatch the crown of its rival. PhoneBuff gives the iPhone XS Max a score of 37 out of 40 against 34/40.
In the initial drop test (on a concrete floor), the Apple terminal held its own, but after it fell, there was a large crack in the glass back, the most fragile part of the device. The Note 10+ was already covered with many small cracks. For the second test, Phonebuff dropped two smartphones vertically so that one of the corners hit the concrete first. Again, the narrow winner is the iPhone XS Max. Note that both devices are in good condition.
From the third and final test Note 10+ outperformed its rival. The screen of the iPhone XS Max began to crack after a blow to the front. Even a large part of the touchscreen is completely unusable. For its part, the Note 10+ survived with little damage to the screen and continues to function properly.
