The OnePlus 7T is here and similar to its predecessors. It’s still among the best smartphones available today and offers great value for money. From the performance-oriented processor to the smooth display, this new flagship is packed with features. So, if you have bought this phone or are preparing to buy it soon, you should try its best.
That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the best OnePlus 7T tips and tricks in this post.
If you are familiar with the settings and features of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, you may be familiar with some of them. But if you ask me, why take a chance and miss out on some cool stuff, right?
Here we are with the best tips and tricks for the OnePlus 7T.
1. Enable Chromatic Reading Mode
One of the newest features of the OnePlus 7T is Chromatic Reading Mode. Unlike traditional reading mode, which paints the entire screen in a monochromatic tone, this desaturates the screen a bit. This means the colors are still there, but not sharp and pleasing to the eye.

Naturally, this makes it easier to read. You can use this mode when reading articles or ebooks or browsing articles in Chrome.
To enable this reading mode, swipe open Quick Settings, tap Reading Mode and select Chromatic Mode.

However, if you want Chromatic to be the default reading mode, you need to set a rule. To do this, long tap on the Reading mode icon to go to Settings. Now tap Turn On Reading Mode and select Turn on chromatic effect.

You can also add apps to this list via the option below.
2. Use Customization Shortcuts
Another new change to the OnePlus 7T is that all the customization shortcuts now appear on a single page. This means you don’t have to scroll through the Settings page if you want to make a number of changes to the accent color, icon shapes, or fingerprint animation style.

All of this is under Settings > Customization. So, all you have to do is tap on the appropriate option and make the changes.

Pro Tip
3. New Navigation Gestures
It’s very old school to swipe up from the left corner of your screen to go to Recent Apps. Or at least OnePlus wants us to believe it. Yes, your new phone now comes with a new set of navigation gestures.
So, now instead of swiping up from the bottom right corner of your screen, you can swipe in from the bottom right/left edge of the screen.
The same goes for Recent Apps – swipe up from the bottom edge and pause. Hello, Android 10!
To make these changes, go to Settings > Buttons & Gestures > Navigation bar & gestures and toggle the Navigation gestures switch.

At the same time, enable the ‘Hide bottom bar’ switch to take full advantage of this amazing screen area.
Cool Tip
4. Lower the Screen Refresh Rate
With the OnePlus 7T you enjoy an exceptionally smooth 90Hz display and it is a pleasure to use. However, if you’re looking for all-day battery life or more, you may want to lower it to the regular 60Hz refresh rate (and return whenever you want).
I know the 90Hz display is one of the main reasons to buy this phone but the battery is also important.

To make this change, go to Settings > Display > Screen Refresh rate and switch to 60 Hz.
5. Open Video Enhancer
As the name suggests, OnePlus 7T’s Video Enhancer gives videos a rich and vibrant look. And the best part is that you don’t need to open it manually every time you plan to watch a movie or short. It is triggered automatically as soon as it detects a video playing in apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime or YouTube.

To turn it on, go to Display settings and turn on the switch.
6. Set the Smart Display
With the OnePlus 7T you get a new smart Ambient Display. It displays information based on time, location and events. Apart from that, you can also choose to see your calendar events or the music playing on your phone. Is not it beautiful?
To enable it, go to Ambient Display settings and toggle the Smart display switch.

Do you know
7. Test the Brand New Playground
Another new change is the introduction of Game Space. OnePlus has removed the Gaming mode from the hard-to-find Utilities section and turned it into a standalone app.

And it contains links to all the games on your phone. So yes, you no longer need to browse the entire app drawer looking for Mario Kart or PUBG.
Another advantage of Game Space is that it displays the time you spend playing games. This is especially useful for people who want to check their game time or general smartphone usage.

You will also find other game-related features such as Graphics Optimization, popular Fnatic mode, settings to manage notifications.
8. Enable Blocking by Keywords
Spam messages have become the norm these days. If you haven’t signed up for DND, there’s a good chance your inbox is full of spam emails. Solution? Use the option to block by keywords.

As the name suggests, you can add a few keywords and selectively make your inbox look clean.

To add these keywords, open OnePlus Messages and hit the three-dot menu in the top right corner. Select Setting > Block Setting > Block by keywords.
9. Set Zen Mode
With the new OnePlus 7T, you can play around with the Zen Mode settings. Unlike the old version that locked the phone for 20 minutes, you can now preset the time.

For now, the phone lets you choose between 20 minutes and 60 minutes.

And the best part is that you can make changes directly from the welcome screen. Simply tap the clock at the bottom and choose the one that suits your needs. Now put your phone aside and enter your zen.
Never settle!
These were some of the coolest tips and tricks about the new OnePlus 7T. Apart from the above, you can also check out the new Android 10 permission settings. When you install a new app, OnePlus presents you with a simplified permissions popup where you can set better control.
So, which of these settings will you change first? Before you decide that, watch this video of OnePlus 7T Tips and Tricks.
