Over the past year, Samsung has overhauled its phone’s UI and now it overturns all possibilities, whether it’s fast responsiveness when opening apps or searching, or a clean and modern look. Now Samsung is ready with an updated version of One UI. The aptly named One UI 2.0 brings many new features and tricks that you can use to further customize the look and feel of your Samsung phone.
From customizing facial recognition to instantly turning on One-Handed mode, there are lots of new things to discover.
So, in this post, we have compiled a list of the best Samsung One UI 2.0 features and tricks.
Hello New Navigation Gestures
With Android 10, Google changed the way you browse your phone (again). Although navigation gestures have been part of OneUI from the beginning, One UI 2.0 brings a handy little toggle for adjusting the back gesture sensitivity. Reason?
Well, Android 10’s native navigation gestures aren’t all that smooth and fluid, especially when it comes to back gestures. To counter this, Samsung includes a nifty slider that lets you change the sensitivity of the screen. All you have to do is drag left/right and adjust it to suit you.
Settings appear under Display > Navigation bar > More options.
2. Add an Alternate Appearance
How many times has the phone refused to unlock because you are wearing sunglasses? Well, if you’re faced with a situation like this, let me tell you the breathing in the form of the Alternative Look feature is here.
As you can imagine, it allows you to save an alternate view of yourself to improve facial recognition. Is not it beautiful? We tested it and it worked flawlessly. To enable it, go to Settings, search for Face Recognition and tap on Add alternative skin, You know the rest.
Speaking of alternatives, did you know that the camera app now comes with several alternative options?
For example, you can adjust the camera mode according to your usage and make these changes directly from the camera home page. If you remember, you had to dive deep into Settings to make these changes earlier.
Now all you have to do is swipe left until you see More as shown in the screenshot below. Tap on the little pencil icon and hold to drag the mods where you want them. This much.
The next time you want to use your favorite camera mode, just a few swipes will do.
3. Check out New Device Maintenance
Samsung overhauled Device Maintenance in the One UI 2.0 update. Some sections have been redesigned to offer more information. If you open the battery section, you’ll see a comprehensive graph and information on which apps are draining your phone’s battery life.
Apart from that, the app also gives you the option to batch remove images from your phone if you are in space saving mode.
All you have to do is open the Device Maintenance option and select the required section to make the changes. Or if you’re in the mood to do something new, you can also take a look at the Advanced settings under Storage.

4. Customize Fingerprint Icon
Another great new addition to One UI 2.0 is that it lets you customize when the fingerprint icon appears on the screen. For now, you can choose to have the icon appear always, never, or only when Always On Display is active.

5. Add Emoji Alerts to Calendar
Emojis are everywhere! No really. The stock Calendar app now lets you add stickers to dates without creating an event.
For example, if you want to set a quick reminder for your bill payment on a certain date, you can simply add a sticker and forget about it. When the date comes, Calendar will remind you to pay your bill with a sticker.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
To do this, open the calendar app and you will see an emoji icon below the selected date. Tap on it, choose the one that best describes your situation and that’s it.
6. Set Location Based Reminders
Speaking of reminders, you can now set location-based reminders for a specific time. You can also share reminders with your family group or another group.
To do this, open an activity and tap the Map button under Location. Enter the location you want to be reminded of and then save.

7. Files App
Accidentally deleted a file from your phone? Do not panic! With this new version of One UI, you will be able to restore it right away.
The new Trash feature keeps your deleted content safe for about 15 days after you delete it. So if you accidentally hit the Delete button, you can easily jump to the folder and restore it with a single tap.
To do this, open the Files app and tap the three-dot button in the top right corner and select Recycle Bin. You will see all the recently deleted files there. Select and click the Restore button in the ribbon below.
