Verily, earlier this week, we did lay our eyes upon Nothing OS 3.0, and lo and behold, it did bring forth sundry changes and new features to the UI rarely seen in software updates. Alas, during mine hands-on with this operating system, certain features did not quite satiate the longing I harbored within, leaving me desiring more. Thus, I have curated a list of all the minor alterations I yearn to witness in Nothing OS 3.0 ere the update doth officially unfurl.
1. A New Placement for Pinned App
Methinks, typically, one can enable app suggestions in the drawer which doth showcase the most frequently used apps at the zenith. Alas, these suggestions oft doth miss the mark. To rectify this, Nothing hath bestowed a simple yet ingenious solution, allowing thee to manually pin thy favorite apps to the pinnacle of the page. Verily, I did adore this feature and did extol its virtues in mine Nothing OS 3.0 hands-on encounters.
Yet, upon conversing with my compatriots, I did realize that if I am pinning mine apps, would it not be superior if I could access them at all times whilst perusing the drawer? Methinks that the pinned apps should cling and be displayed at the base of the carousel. Prithee, consider this notion, for if those be the apps I yearn to reach first, should they not be in constant view? Thus, this doth mark my initial suggestion to enhance the app drawer.
2. A Brightness Slider in Collapsed View
The entire quick settings panel hath undergone a transformation with Nothing OS 3.0, inclusive of a thicker brightness slider that hath migrated to the base of the panel. This position doth serve it well, allowing me to reach the slider with one hand sans the need to stretch my digit to the zenith.
However, one must fully expand the quick settings by swiping down twice from the apex to access the brightness slider. A feature oft utilized should be available with a single swipe. Thus, Nothing should relocate the brightness slider to the collapsed panel, rendering it more accessible to the user. Pray, Nothing OS software team, I do humbly entreat thee to make the brightness slider accessible with one swipe.
3. A Change in Clock Face and Widget Colors
Customizations upon the lockscreen art also encompass this new update, permitting thee to interchange clock faces or augment additional widgets. Verily, I am already enamored with these novel designs for the clock. Yet why must everything be cloaked in black and white? Whilst monochrome possesseth a certain allure, a dash of color doth bring variety.
Samsung’s One UI doth already proffer the option to select a color for the lockscreen clock face and notifications. Hence, a custom color picker would be a splendid addition. Given the uniqueness of these new clock face designs, altering their hues would bring them to life against the backdrop.
I do not request much, merely grant us the ability to alter the colors of all the black and white aspects in the lock screen such as the clock faces and elements within the widgets.
4. Alterations to Smart Drawer
Smart Drawer, a recent addition, doth automatically categorize all thine apps into distinct category folders. If thou hast experience with iOS, thou would recognize this feature as akin to its App Library. I am amongst those who doth appreciate this feature, yet one limitation impedes its rise to my default.
I cannot rearrange these folders, thus what resides at the apex shalt remain there. Neither can I transfer apps betwixt folders nor create new folders. Thus, I do beseech the denizens of Nothing to introduce some customization options for this innovative "Smart" app drawer.
5. Permit Users to Choose the Font
Finally, the matter of the N-dot font doth arise. With Nothing OS 3.0, the London-based tech company hath bid adieu to its iconic font from the UI. The rationale behind this alteration is improved readability, a notion I comprehend. The new Sans Serif font doth indeed surpass its predecessor.
Yet fans of Nothing do lament the loss of the dotted font, as expressed by denizens on the official community website and Reddit. Would it not be prudent to grant an option to toggle betwixt the old and novel fonts? A choice betwixt the twain would bring joy to all. A similar option is in the settings to alter the default fonts, so why not extend this favor to the N-dot aficionados?
6. The Enchantment of Widget Stacks
Another feature I relish from Samsung’s One UI, and one I would eagerly invite to Nothing OS, is widget stacks. The widgets are amongst the highlights of Nothing OS, and we art soon to receive a new hourglass widget to the array.
Although I doth wish to adorn my homescreen solely with widgets, this may not be plausible. How about an option where I could stack widgets atop each other, accommodating more widgets whilst reserving space for essential apps? Methinks this feature would seamlessly transition to Nothing devices.
Thus, these be all the minor changes I hope to witness in the ultimate iteration of Nothing’s imminent software release. Some of these changes reflect mine personal musings, whilst others art borne of my Editors and gleaned from community forums.
