1. Turn on Dark Mode

One of the things on the phone these days is Dark Mode. It is one of the most requested features. It looks beautiful thanks to the gorgeous Super AMOLED display and dark mode.

It has a user interface and is very simple to open. Just go to Settings, Display and enable the toggle next to Dark Mode. Alternatively, there’s also a quick settings toggle if you prefer.

2. Always On Display

Dark Mode looks great with AMOLED screens, but the phone looks stunning even with the screen off. All thanks to the Always On Display. Now go to Lock Screen settings and tap on Always On Display to turn it on.

Here you can customize the type of AOD you want along with various clock settings and more. I like to keep it Always On, but if you’re going to use it to control notifications, the Tap to Show option is what you should choose.

Now press the power key to turn off the screen and check the Always on Display mode.

3. Customize the Power Button

Well, you can also customize the power key. To do this go to Settings, Advanced Settings and tap the Side Key.

Here, you can customize the actions to your liking. I use the double tap action to launch an app and long press to open the Close menu, but feel free to continue using Bixby if you want.

4. Change Navigation Gestures

One of the pains of using a phone with a long screen is reaching for the Status bar with one hand. Fortunately, navigation gestures are mature enough to save you the hassle of sticking your thumb. They’re also fun to use to get the most out of the phone’s 6.5-inch display.

Go to Display Settings and scroll down a bit to enter the Navigation Bar option. Then tap Fullscreen Gestures to enable them. After that, you can start using gestures like executing some Jedi tricks on the phone.

5. Enable One-Handed Mode

While the navigation gestures are great, they don’t completely eliminate the importance of One-Handed mode. It works like a talisman and helps you use the device easily.

Now go to Settings > Advanced settings > One-handed mode and turn the switch next to it to enable it. You can choose from a Gesture or Button for this, but if you have navigation gestures enabled, you can only have the old option. Now you can swipe down from the middle of the bottom edge to enter this mode.

6. Face ID Competitor

While Apple’s Face ID is pretty fun and robust, it has its limitations. Samsung takes it a step further in One UI 2 by adding a way for you to hide two different faces for facial recognition. You can get your normal look and a look with glasses or a hat.

To enable it, go to Biometrics & security in Settings and tap on Face Recognition. Here, tap on Add Alternate Skin to save the second face. You can now unlock your phone with any of the faces you saved.

7. Connection to Windows

Samsung’s flagships have a feature called Link to Windows that lets you transfer photos, send SMS, and receive notifications on your PC – all wirelessly via the My Phone app. Guess what? You get the same on the Galaxy A51.

8. Call/Message from Connected Devices

With the Connect to Windows feature you can use your computer to view notifications and reply to SMS, it goes one step further in the Samsung ecosystem and also lets you receive calls and texts from your connected devices. For example, I can also receive my phone calls on my Galaxy Tab S6.

To do this, log into the same Samsung account on both devices. Then go to Settings > Advanced Settings > Call & message on other devices. You will see all connected devices in the list. Simply activate the toggle next to the device you want.

9. Use 48MP Mode

Samsung phones have been offering some serious imaging capabilities lately and this phone carries a 48MP camera. However, it is not enabled by default. First enable 48MP mode

Tap on the aspect ratio option at the top and select 3 by 4 H. This means High Definition which is exactly what we want. It’s not that convenient, but that’s how things are here.

10. Create GIFs

You may already know that Animated Photos lets you create GIFs. However, you can easily create more GIFs using a simple trick.

Go to Settings. Then, under Pictures settings, hold the Shutter Button and change it to Create GIF. Now, every time you hold down the button while taking a photo, the app will automatically record a video for you and save a GIF of it.

11. Use the Floating Shutter Button

Does the fixed position of the shutter button bother you? Well, you can move it too.

To do this, drag the shutter button out and it will launch a floating button that you can place anywhere. Now, if you want to remove it, drag it back to the main shutter button.

12. Set Camera Options in Tray

The shutter button isn’t the only thing you can move. You can even edit the options shown in the main sub-tray.

Tap the Other tab and tap the Edit icon in the lower right corner. Now you can drag and drop the mods you want and remove the ones you don’t want.

13. Shooting Advice

Another way the Galaxy A51’s camera comes in handy is to help you frame a great shot. We’ve seen this feature on Vivo’s devices as well, and it’s nice to have it here too.

Now to enable it, go to Camera Settings and enable the toggle next to Shot suggestions. It will now help you align the frame so that every time you try to take a shot, the focus is clearly on the subject.
