While Twitter was completely free for many years, Elon Musk introduced a paid plan called XBlue after purchasing the social network last year. In addition to allowing your account to be certified (i.e., displaying a blue check mark next to your name), this subscription offered users a few additional features.
Among these, we especially found the opportunity to modify tweets, download videos, and even receive a portion of the platform’s advertising revenue depending on the interaction your posts generate. After this, To give users more options, the social network has launched two new subscriptions.
X offers an even cheaper subscription
Over the weekend, X launched two new subscriptions called Basic and Premium+. First, it’s now the cheapest plan offered by the social network; Only 3.60 euros per month or 38.40 euros per year.Provided that you subscribe from a web browser and not from your mobile phone, as Apple and Google take additional commission from the App Store and Play Store.
This new discounted price subscription offers users many features, but much less than the Premium subscription available for 9.60 euros per month. Here are all the features subscribers will be entitled to:
- Edit messages
- Longer posts
- Ability to take down a message
- Post longer videos
- “Popular articles” tab
- “Reader” option
- Play videos in the background
- download videos
- Better highlighting of your answers in other posts
- Two-factor authentication via SMS
- End-to-end encrypted direct messages
- New icons for the app
- bookmark folders
- Better navigation customization
- More themes
- “Highlighted Tweets” tab
- Ability to hide your “likes”
In his name, The premium plan adds some additional features, including:
- Ads in “For You” and “Subscriptions” are halved
- Increased visibility of your answers
- Sharing of advertising revenue provided eligibility criteria are met
- Paid creator subscriptions
- X Pro (web only), formerly known as TweetDeck
- Media Studio (Web only)
- Analytics (Web only)
- Blue check mark (certificate)
- Authentication
The new Premium+ subscription costs almost 20 euros per month
In addition to the new Basic subscription, Elon Musk also launched: As the name suggests, Premium+ adds features compared to Premium subscription. There are only 2 of them, but they should greatly improve the experience for some users.
- No ads in “For You” and “Subscriptions”
- The biggest increase in visibility of your replies on other posts
However, please note that ad reduction does not apply to content promoted elsewhere on X, including but not limited to profile ads, message response ads, Amplify Video ads, events promoted in Explore, promoted trends, and promoted accounts to follow. Therefore, even with this new subscription the removal of ads is only partial.
Fortunately, X remains a free platform if you don’t want to pay. You don’t have to pay a single penny to read or stream content unless you’re in certain countries. These now require new users to pay $1, possibly to combat bots and other spam.
