WhatsApp: your videos no longer sending to Android? It’s a bug!

WhatsApp hides IP during calls

If you are using WhatsApp on an Android smartphone, you may have encountered an issue recently: You cannot send a video saved on your smartphone to your contacts. Many users complained about this problem on social media. After selecting the video file to send, they are presented with a pop-up message that says “”.This video cannot be sent. Choose another video and try again“.

The issue appears to primarily affect videos shot directly on the Android device or downloaded from sources like Instagram. While trying to share the same video files, an error message appears in the WhatsApp sharing interface.

WhatsApp refuses to send your videos to Android

Interestingly, the bug does not seem to affect all video file types equally. Videos received from other people via WhatsApp, such as videos shot on iPhones with .mov extensions, can be seamlessly forwarded or reshared.

According to 9To5Google tests on Galaxy smartphone, the app actually refuses to send video in version 2.24.9.34. However, some user reports suggest that the bug may be more widespread and spread to other versions, such as the latest WhatsApp beta.

Although the root cause is not yet clear, the bug does not seem to affect all Android devices. However, since Samsung’s globally popular Galaxy phones are among the affected devices, it is likely that most of the billions of WhatsApp users will face this obstacle.

In the meantime, affected users can: Workaround this issue by downgrading to the previous version of WhatsApp, 2.24.8.85. This older version appears to allow seamless video sharing, at least for now. Of course, reverting to an earlier version of the application poses security risks if the vulnerabilities have been fixed. Users considering this option should therefore weigh the pros and cons until an official WhatsApp patch is released.
