WhatsApp will soon let you send short video messages

Just days after announcing the arrival of messages pinned to WhatsApp, WABetaInfo has revealed a new feature in the latest beta of Meta’s messaging app. The company will now operate A feature for sending video messages.

On Beta version for WhatsApp iOS 23.6.0.73, WABetaInfo has discovered that it is now possible to record and send short video messages. Until now, users could only send text and audio messages or even multimedia files from their device’s gallery.

Video messages coming to WhatsApp soon

Sending a video message on WhatsApp will be as easy as sending an audio message. Users can simply press a button and Hold to record up to 60 seconds of video. After the video is sent, displayed in a circular format in chat and read automatically. So this feature works quite similarly to its Telegram equivalent.

Another interesting detail These short video messages are end-to-end encrypted and cannot be recorded or transmitted. Note, however, that screenshots are allowed, but it is unknown whether the sender will be notified if you decide to immortalize the moment.

This addition wasn’t really necessary, but we’re sure some users will put it to good use. The feature essentially lets you send a quick video instead of recording a video with your smartphone and sending the file to your addressee.

As usual, the feature is currently not available available only to a small number of WhatsApp beta users. It is not yet known when the company will roll this out to everyone, but it will likely take a few months. In the meantime, let’s remind that iPhone owners have recently gained another indispensable feature: text detection in photos. On PC, WhatsApp has also received a major new update that enables video calls with up to 8 people and up to 32 people with voice calls.
