Some features take time to reach the official version of WhatsApp, and the Meta-owned messaging service takes time to finalize updates before rolling them out globally. This is also the case with the latest update of WhatsApp. This allows users to share longer voice messages via status updates.
Although WhatsApp started working on voice status updates a few years ago, the first phase was launched in early 2023 with support for 30-second voice recording. This weekend WABetaInfo reported: WhatsApp has increased this limit and now allows one-minute voice messages to be published as WhatsApp status updates.

Of course, users don’t need to do this.Record a full 60-second audio clip. The new limit increases the maximum time allowed. Allows greater flexibility in sending longer voice messages compared to the previous 30-second restriction.
Improved audio status feature now available on iOS and Android versions of WhatsApp. However, this is not an automatic update. To access it, you will need to manually update your WhatsApp installation via the App Store or Google Play Store.

So, if you have run the latest version of WhatsApp and see that the audio status recording limit remains fixed at half a minute, do not worry. You will have to wait a few days to get the update from the app store.
