The Meta-owned platform is constantly working on updates and improvements to increase user engagement, and a new feature WhatsApp introduced a few weeks ago will allow you to have a better experience on news channels.
The new update will specifically bring a “Channel Settings” section where channel managers can manage various options for their channels. Among these options, WhatsApp plans to give admins the ability to control what reactions their followers can send reacting to published news.
WABetaInfo reports news reactions on the latest update of WhatsApp beta 2.23.15.18 for Android on Google Play Store. This feature is frankly reminiscent of Telegram, where users who follow certain channels can also react to messages.
Channels will then be able to define a certain number of reaction emojis, or even authorize all emojis available on smartphones, but WhatsApp will also offer a “Default only” option, which limits their use for reactions. WhatsApp will clearly offer channel managers: ability to completely disable reactions for their channels if they want.
