Emoji have become an integral part of modern conversations, adding a burst of joy and expressiveness to text chats, and Meta figured it out, so the company has quietly revealed it to beta testers. The latest update, WhatsApp beta version 2.23.12.13, is rolling out gradually for select beta testers via the Google Play Store. As WABetaInfo reports, this update introduces the revamped emoji keyboard interface, but not all testers will be able to access it yet.
In addition to the redesign of the emoji keyboard, beta testers will notice a change in its snap feature. Removed the paperclip icon next to the camera icon in the message box. replaced by the plus icon in the left corner of the box. This change requires some tweaking for regular WhatsApp users, who will now find a button to switch back to the alphanumeric keyboard with the emoji picker open.
As always, these new features are only available to certain beta users of the app, and it’s unclear when the new version will be available to everyone.
