Sometimes you can get messages from strangers on WhatsApp and your first instinct is probablyignore the message and block the person. The good news for you, whether it’s a spam or a slightly too annoying acquaintance, WhatsApp will be releasing an update soon. Block your contacts even faster.
Indeed, WABetaInfo discovered that Meta has added a new feature to the app in beta versions 2.23.2.4 and 2.23.2.4. More specifically, this is a shortcut to block a contact in direct conversations list, without having to open the corresponding chat.
This new ‘block’ option in the direct notification will not show up if someone is already in your contact list, as this obviously reduces the likelihood of spam and can lead to errors when users try to click ‘Reply’.
For now, two new features that make it easier to access a “block” button only available in the latest beta version of the app. Therefore, it will probably have to wait a few weeks for it to reach the stable version. Meanwhile, WhatsApp introduced a new option for all users that allows them to bypass Internet shutdowns. It also allows the application to be used in regions where it will be blocked by local government.
