Even Tinder, the world’s most popular online dating service, is not immune to glitches. It’s particularly unpleasant when you can’t seem to be able to replicate a person. Stay tuned to find out what you can do to overcome this strange issue.
Bugs Everywhere
If you can’t unmatch someone on Tinder, don’t worry, it’s most likely a glitch that will go away eventually. It’s best to wait a while and then come back to Tinder and try again. However, if that doesn’t work or you’re just impatient, try to match a person a few times until you succeed. If that doesn’t help either, try restarting the app or logging out and back in. Here’s how to do this:
- Tap the icon in the upper left corner of the app’s home screen.
- Go to settings.”
- Tap “Exit”.
If the problem persists, consider reporting it so the developers know there is a problem.
Reporting Unacceptable Behavior
If you can’t sync someone on Tinder and you have a good reason to report them, consider doing so too. Ultimately, you can contribute to a safer environment. The steps you need to take to report a person are mostly the same as for a mismatch:
- Find the person you want to report in your message threads.
- Tap the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Select “Notify”.
- Choose your reason for reporting the match. Don’t abuse this option – this is only for cases where your match is against community guidelines (like spamming you with inappropriate content).
Reset Your Account
If you’ve just returned to Tinder after a long hiatus and have a lot of unwanted matches or just want to start from scratch, maybe resetting your account is the best thing to do. It just means deleting your account and making a new one in its place. If that’s what you want, go to Tinder and then:
- Go to your profile.
- Tap “Settings”.
- Find the item “Delete account”.
- Confirm that this is what you really want to do.
- After successfully deleting your account, log in to your Facebook profile that the Tinder account is linked to. Do this on your computer.
- Go to Facebook’s settings.
- Click on “Apps & websites” in the left sidebar.
- A list of apps that have active access to your Facebook profile will appear immediately. Click the checkbox next to Tinder and then the blue “Remove” button. This is how you disconnect your Facebook and Tinder accounts.
- Facebook will ask you to confirm your decision. Then you will see another popup saying that you have successfully removed the app from the list.
- Create a new Tinder account. If you don’t want to wait three months, you’ll have to use another phone number.
How to Avoid Being Unique in the Future
If you want to make sure that you are not the one who has become unique, here are a few quick tips:
- Don’t get too emotionally intense early on.
- Make sure your grammar is in place.
- Always spell the person’s name correctly.
- Don’t talk about politics.
- Try to avoid long response delays.
- Read the person’s “Bio” before chatting.
- Just be yourself!
Keep a diary
As with any other app malfunction, try waiting for a while or repeating the process a few times. You can also restart the phone or your Tinder app, or if nothing else works, you can report the problem or reset your account. Of course, resetting is an extreme action to take if you don’t want to match with just one person.
