Twitter is finally testing the button to edit its tweets

The ability to edit a tweet has undoubtedly been one of the most requested features by users for years. Already in 2019, Twitter announced that it was considering integrating this functionality, but reminded that the platform does not want to give users the ability to change the meaning of a tweet as they wish.

We had to wait until April 2022 to get any news about this feature. Indeed, Twitter has finally announced that it will soon be possible to edit its tweets. However, a test phase will be pre-launched, accessible only to users of the social network’s paid formula, Twitter Blue (which is not yet available elsewhere in France).

However, we have just learned that Twitter just kicked off this famous testing phaseAs evidenced by an official tweet from the platform:If you see an edited tweet, it’s because we tested the edit button. It’s finally happening and everything will be fine.” writes the platform.

Twitter is finally testing tweet editing

In an official blog post, bluebird explains:Tweets can be edited multiple times within 30 minutes of posting. he adds these tweets will appear with an iconand a hashtag so users can clearly see that the original tweet has been edited.

Thus, users access a full history of changes made and may even view previous versions of edited tweet. According to information from Twitter, editing of tweets is being tested on a small group of users and is aimed at detecting potential problems. “This includes how people might abuse this feature. You can never be too careful”, maintains the social network.

After the initial internal tests are completed, this feature will be extended to certain Twitter Blue subscribers. In September 2022.”The test will initially be localized to a single country and will expand as we learn and observe how people use Edit Tweet. We will also be paying close attention to the impact this feature has on the way people read, write, and participate in Tweets.” summarizes the company.

Regarding France, you’ll have to wait for Twitter Blue to be ready first to try editing tweets. For now, this service is only available in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
