The new feature to be added to the app is video games? Big names in the industry seem to think so. Recently, Netflix confirmed its experiment with the Netflix Gaming platform, while Facebook has already been offering games for a long time, some of which have remained cult over the years. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before TikTok embarked on this adventure.
So, an inside source reports that testing has begun in Vietnam, a country where social networking has been very successful. It is also a strategic area for the Chinese firm, especially given the tech-savvy population, 70% of which are under the age of 35. If the tests are successful, TikTok plans to expand the feature to other Southeast Asian countries.
TikTok is turning into video games too
According to the same source, the games in question will be integrated into HTML5 and will be developed by partners, including Zynga studio. Although TikTok plans to offer more complex games in the future, these will be relatively simple games. The official announcement should not be delayed as it could happen this quarter, or in any case, by the end of the year.
“We are always looking for ways to enrich our platform and regularly test new features and integrations that add value to our community”, a TikTok spokesperson replied without confirming the leak claims. Of course, the goal is to increase ad revenue by encouraging its users to spend more time on the app.
