When Threads emerged at the beginning of the summer, its rivalry with Twitter (as it still is called) was no longer in doubt. Meta’s new social network used the exact same concept as its rival’s, at a time when its image was beginning to seriously deteriorate. Since then, the platform has taken full advantage of this situation by improving features that were missing in X, such as the desktop version of its application.
As social networking expert Alessandro Paluzzi explains on his X account (certainly ironic), Threads has no intention of stopping there. The latter has indeed found a trace of functionality that has been expected from its rival for years: an Edit button. According to the shared screenshot, it will soon be possible to edit a post in Threads within a certain limit. 5 minutes after publication.
Topics allow you to modify your posts after they are published
Of course, it’s worth noting that X already allows you to edit your posts after they’re published. But like many features, especially since Elon Musk’s takeover, this feature is only available to paying users. While it’s possible to pay to get a certificate, Threads doesn’t (yet) have a paid subscription that gives access to additional features.
Therefore, everything indicates that this Toggle button will be available to all users, which will give it a significant advantage over X. Let us also remember that the latter was one of the promises made by Adam Mosseri at the launch of the network. So we can expect more improvements to come to Threads soon. All that remains for us is to wait for the app to be available in Europe.
